Hi,

I don't like FW 3.15.0 and 3.16.0 because there are very big ghosting on my Glo (the biggest appear with boxes when I use dictionnary for example)....

So :

1. can I reinstall 3.14.0 (or 3.13.0) directly on my device without to do a factory reset ?

2. will I keep my library and my shelves or not if I don't do this factory reset ? I know Iwill have to reinstall the rest of settings or add-on like night mode...

3. should I save a file or a directory before thoose steps ?

NB : sorry for my bad english...

You can fix the ghosting on 3.15.0. So go back to 3.15.0. You can add an option to the config file to fix the ghosting.

Thanks for your reply JSWolf, but I already have added this setting in my "\.kobo\kobo\Kobo eReader" file but I've seen no change...

If someone has 3.15.0 or 3.16.0 on his glo, can you tell me if you see some ghosting and what you've got in your "kobo eReader" file ?

The casing of the letters matter, so make sure it is identical, with the upper case letters being upper cased, and the lower case letters being lower cased.

I've done a copy and paste, so I've got this :

I've tried with LeanAndMean=true but it makes no difference.

I'm the only one to see this big bug on a Glo ?

Hi!

Have we got news about the next firmware (3.16.1 oh higher) ?

Will it correct ghosting ?

I have read something about perl version that caused this bug on old devices... which models are concerned : Glo? Aura? Mini? others? => can we clarify this point and give an exhaustive list of those models that have an old perl?

Will this next firmware bring a new version of perl in order to correct this problem ?

LeanAndMean=false only works in 3.15.0 and it still not a perfect solution, and it don't exist at all in 3.16.0 .
I know the ghosting problem is the glo and touch.
you can go back to 3.13.1 until the kobo fix the problem in next firmware.

If it has to do with an old version of perl or not is new for me, but the ghosting exist on all devices running on the latest version (3.16) including Glo HD. We can only hope they will fix it in 3.17 because until now they didn't fix it from the time they introduced it, they don't give us a road map of what they will fix in future releases.

Well... but have they identified the function brought that is causing this bug? Is she more important than the bug himself?

Huh? I've never seen ANY mention of perl causing an issue on the device (in fact, I don't even think perl is present in the Kobo f/w).

Kobo isn't telling us that much, if they even agree it is a bug they are not in a hurry to fix it, or they don't know how to fix it, IMHO it appears after a change of the look and feel of the menu, in the old situation, coming out of a menu or sleep mode triggers a full refresh, now it doesn't do that anymore, tapping twice does a refresh now. The leanAndMean setting of 3.15 isn't present anymore but why they took it out is unknown to me. Why they don't put back the full refresh after leaving the menu or sleep mode , I don't know. Maybe beta testers know more, but as far as I know Kobo isn't that open that they explain everything what they do and why... Maybe they leave out the refresh just to spare battery life, but on the other hand, I can't imagine that people are using the extra features that much that it defends this choice.. So extra tapping is for as far as I know the only solution..

kobo glo 3.16.0 feedback
after this upgrade glo's wifi doesn't work properly. I tried : manually add wireless network, password enter etc. It shows networks after scan but doesn't connect.
Now 3.15.0 there is no problem.
(Kobo Glo Japan release with koboindigo affiliate)

did you in fact mean the Pearl e-ink screen that some devices use rather than the scripting language called Perl?
