If you have a pc, you could use bluestacks to download it. Another possibility could be to use one of the alternative shops.

Sorry, I think you perhaps misunderstand the question.

The commercial version of Moon+ (which I use on my Nexus 7) does DRM checks via the Google Play store. I strongly suspect that this is not going to work on the Fire, even if you were able to sideload it, is it? The free version of Moon+ is so limited, that I imagine anyone who seriously wants to use it is going to want the pay version.

Actually, the paid version works just fine. I have the paid version from Google Play, side loaded from my Nexus 7 to my Fire HD 6. No problems at all. If there is an update I want, I have to jump through some hoops, back up the settings, load the updated app, then reapply the settings. I use EX File explorer to do this over wifi. Works very well.

Thanks, booklover, that's interesting to know. But could you buy it without having another Android device? Would the "bluestacks" software that a previous poster mentioned allow you to do so?

It's the lack of access to the Google Play store that personally puts me off the Fire tablets, although I'm a fan of the eInk Kindles.

That, I don't know, as I've never used bluestacks. The OP did indicate possession of another Android tablet. Certainly, using EX File Explorer the way I do, would require a second Android device. Many apps from Google Play will work this way, but some will not. I don't think Calibre Companion works this way. And there is at least one game (a Microsoft game) that doesn't. So it varies.

I am able to backup & send the Moon+ from the Nexus 7 to the Fire HDX 8.9; Moon+ Pro works very well on the Fire.

But I am NOT able to backup the Moon+ residing a Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 using EX file explorer!! Could be the reason the resolution is greater than 1920x1200?

Have Google Play running on the Fire HDX but not able to get it to connect to Play store. This is a part of the apps for loading & running YouTube on the Fire HDX as per info on XDA. Will have to check on the most current version of Google Play to see if it will work.....

Keeping my fingers crossed that the Nokia N1 will soon be available in the US.

4:3 aspect ratio in an aluminum body with 323 ppi. Expected to cost ~$270 for 32GB model with 2GB of ram.

It looks like an iPad mini clone that runs Android Lollipop.

Since the OP has another Android device I guess I didn't give it any thought. The Moon+ Pro I have on my HDX is from the Amazon app store and then sideloaded which passes Amazon's licensing checks. There is also the regular free version of Moon+ which can be downloaded from the Play store using any or the APK downloader sites. Pro can also be purchased at at least one third party app store (AppBrain).

You might like to check out this review of "The top 12 tablets you can buy right now" and see if anything is of interest.

That does look like a nice tablet, thanks for the link apesmom. Always nice to see something new coming out especially in Android. I also like the square shape, it does remind me of an Ipad mini. I will be watching for reviews on the Nokia Tablet.

I prefer a 4:3 aspect ratio for reading on (I read a lot of PDFs on my iPad Mini), but 16:10 is better for things like watching films or TV programmes. It really depends what the main use for the device is.

After all this looking around, I'm wondering if it might just be best for me to replace the battery. My Nexus runs great, it just seems to lose power quicker than it used to. So now I'm just looking around for replacement batteries. Apparently, since they aren't being made anymore (from what I can tell), the Nexus 7's are even more expensive now than when I bought mine, not less.

My mom has an Asus Memopad, I'm also thinking of borrowing it for a few hours and playing around with it, see how I like it.

You can still get a new Nexus 2013 at Amazon in electronics dept. I just saw one for $169. for a 16G New. I don't know if that's what you wanted but they have others that are new also.

A pretty good deal !

Mine's the 32 model, which runs for like, $280 new! That's at least $20 more than I paid for mine. But I just checked my storage, and I have 23 gb free, so 16 would probably do me fine.
