When you buy a PW2 or newer Kindle, you have to be prepared to live with it as it comes. You cannot jailbreak. So if the way the Kindle works is not what you want, then don't buy a Kindle thinking you can jailbreak it and do what you want.

MOBI, nope.

AZW3, yes, with some caveats (some fonts just won't ever display properly, and there are some common things to avoid in your code to avoid breaking font embedding, which a quick search in the Mobi subforum should detail)

If you want to be able to add more fonts, then get a Kobo Reader as you can add fonts there.

...but if you want a stable device with a good touchscreen, then get a Kindle. See the Kobo sub-forum for details.

well I live currently in Egypt and there is no shipping for kobo (and even if I want to use shipping companies they will cost me about double the original price)
my only option is the kindle family (with 16$ shipping fees)

@OP. You should also be aware that the current generation of Kindles cannot even be jailbroken.

However, you can recompile the az3 to include your own fonts, but you will have to de-drm and recompile using Calibre. It's a bit of a pain.

The older Kindle versions are not locked down, so you can either jailbreak them or use custom fonts without jailbreaking.

See this thread: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=257420

I'm not sure if Amazon sells a Kindle that can still use the custom-font hacks. Maybe take a look on ebay or look for a refurb from Amazon.

You might consider an Onyx or a Boyue, but shipping will be high and there is the danger it woun't work and you'll have to return it and pay shipping.

I am very aware and I've made ton of comparisons

I actually think that kindles are "iPhone of eReaders", they have the best of marketing, although there are many other alternatives but I am concerned about the quality of screen
the E-Ink Carta is the best option available currently (I don't think they will made E-ink PRISM screens in a short time)

I have Xperia ZR for all my outdoor needs and I need eReader for reading only, I am not interested in any other feature and my only concern that it will display RTL text and fonts (Arabic) properly

But JSWolf already knows the OP knows this, plus he has made multiple posts in this thread repeating himself.

And he has been spending an awful lot of time in this subforum repeating over and over again to the same people that they cannot jailbreak, it is beginning to resemble a campaign.
