Already solved, edited the mrinstaller.sh script to add my 0x53 to the list of supported Voyage devices. Ugly and highly effective

Hey I am new this. if I were to jailbreak kindle 7th gen e reader, what can I do with jailbroken e-reader? List of apps or utilities or services, so I can get an idea of the capabilities.

Nearly anything here listed for the "K5" or "PW/PW2" .

Lookup the applications provided with KindleMenu or the things with a KUAL (cool) interface.

Keep in mind that the KT2 is currently 'hardware' jailbreak only (i.e., crack it open + serial access).

If you happened to be running a live, but outdated version of the JailBreak when you got the 5.6.x update, this package should get you back on track.

Download the attached zip file, and unpack it.
Copy the Update_jailbreak_1.14.N_install.bin file to the root directory of your Kindle.

Do note that that very blog post (Goodereader) links back to MobileRead, in fact to a thread in this very subforum. That thread was posted in October, which means as usual Goodereader is way behind schedule (5 months). Interestingly, they are less of a parasite than usual, having credited us with the discovery -- but still not the frontrunner when it comes to breaking news.

The usual gang out in the News forum wouldn't be surprised at all.

Guys I am new to the Kindle PW2 JB community and was successfully able to JB on version 5.4.5.1 and also managed to load KUAL and thats as far as I got. I believe I screwed the pooch though in that I was trying to load an extension and did the "update your kindle" method (instead of using KUAL, like I guess I was supposed to) and now my PW2 is on the dreaded 5.6.1.0.6! I suppose I am screwed huh?

Now I still have access to the Kindle launcher (KUAL+) but fgrom what I have been reading, now that I have been updated to this shit FW, loading and running extensions will no longer work, or may not work?

When did you jailbreak? Because version 1.13, out since around late November IIRC, handles fw5.6.x just fine.

If earlier, then all is not lost, you can still use hacks but it will take a little more work. Reread the OP, specifically the red "Even more important notice regarding fw>=5.6.0".

Also make sure KUAL is at version 2.5 (else the updated jailbreak with gandalf and all doesn't get used...), and check out the MobileRead Package Installer.
