First thing to do is to leave it connected to a wall charger overnight, and see if that helps. If it doesn't, then as advised, I'd suggest contacting Kindle CS. If you only bought it in November, it will still be under warranty.

Replacing under warranty is a much better option than trying to fix yourself using hardware modifications (since I assume it isn't jailbroken with Rescue Pack etc. installed).

... particularly if you have the basic Kindle, where the battery is firmly glued in place. It's impossible to remove the battery from it without leaving ample evidence of your actions, unfortunately. The PW and Voyage, by comparison, don't have a glued-in battery.

One other option you might try is to plug your kindle into your computer with a usb cable.

I dropped my K4NT a few months ago (12" fall) and somehow it damaged the power button. (button no longer functions). BUT, I discovered that when I plug my kindle into my computer, it switches to "USB Drive Mode" and "wakes up" then unplug and its back to reading mode (as if I had pushed the power button) and I can read until the next time it "falls asleep" from inactivity. (I am overseas, and the shipping costs to have returned it for warrantied repair would cost almost as much as a new one. So I will wait until I return to USA to send it for repairs) |

I'm disapointed with this freaking Kindle, No software to restore to factory from USB to computer? I download a Kindle PC application and I see my books on it, but no option to reset....

It was charging for 2 hours and then never turn on. 4 led on screen turn on, but OS...won't... I take out the battery it has 3 screw and the plastic screen cover with my hot air soldering station, was easy to pull it out... Ok guys thank you for time. |

Well, yes -- Amazon expects you to return it under warranty. This is not unexpected in the field of consumer technology.

I get the impression MrEskorpion is from a country where mailing a Kindle back to Amazon may not be convenient.

It sounds as if you destroyed your own Kindle! ![]() Why, oh why, did you take the battery out?! ![]() Amazon is very understanding about its products that fail (sometimes even those products that are out of warranty). If you bought this new in November, it still would have been under warranty! I'm going to repeat that: If you bought this new in November, it still would have been under warranty! Now you have zero negotiating room for some kind of replacement. |
