I replaced the Kindle Keyboard because the display exploded in one spot. I sold the Paperwhite 2 though.

My upgrades have always been because I wanted new features, etc. I have yet to have any of my Kindles die on me.

I replaced a Nook STG because of B&N's software and file management. I replaced my Kobo Glo with an Aura HD when I broke the power slider after the device was out of warranty. I still have a Mini for on the go reading and my Aura HD as my primary reader, but I find that I sort of want to get another 6" lighted ereader now for an upcoming trip if I can't get my Glo working again, so I don't have to 'risk' the Aura HD. (Not that there is any real risk involved. I think this is just an urge to collect devices.)

I broke one of my Kindle's and Amazon gave me a deal on replacing it with another of the same model. I've had six Kindles and all purchases of new models were driven by new features I wanted.
We might have peaked, though. I have trouble thinking of new features that would drive me to buy a new model. |

Both of my Glos have non-functioning power sliders (my fault). They work fine, I just use the cover to wake/sleep, which is what I would do regardless, so no loss to me. If I need to restart, I use the reset button. |

Actually, it's worse than that. At one point, that would have been a solution. I got curious and disassembled it further (a personality flaw since I was a toddler), and this time it bit me in the ereader.

I damaged the screen on my first kindle a week out of warranty and they replaced it. I continue to use that one. I just keep buying new ones for features I need occasionally. I'm a gadget fiend. In addition to an excessive number of readers, I have an excessive number of iPods. Eventually I won't have the money to enjoy more than one at a time, but in the meantime...
I have three kindle keyboards. Yes, I love my buttons! Scary- I have 7 ereaders all for me. Maybe I should sell one. Last edited by Tarana; 03-04-2015 at 11:06 PM. |

What type of error manifests itself when the controller goes bad? (This may be happening to my Kindle DX-G, so any comments may be helpful.) Thanks. |

I had a Sony 500 die due to more and more limited battery life (took advantage of Sony's recycling program and got a great discount on a 700), and my daughter's PRS-300 had the page turn button break (worn out).

I had the "next" button fail on several ipaqs when I used them as readers. I would program another button to use until it totally wore out. From 99 until a couple of years ago when I got my first tablet I must have gone through at least ten ipaqs. I would buy them on ebay in batch lots and several friends and relatives used them as well lol. I remember one particularly good batch of six working ipaqs for 150. A very good deal.
