Hello
I have a clone of T62 from the Energy Sistem. I tried to root it according to the guide but there were a notice “remount failed: operation not permitted” and “failed to copy root/su to system/xbin/su: Read-only file system” Any idea how to solve that? |

This device is confusing me because Google Play wasn't available initially in the app section, but after signing in to Google with the Gmail app, Google Play magically appeared out of nowhere. But not immediately after signing in, it took awhile to appear, like the app had to update first or something. Play services showed up first. Right now the Play Store is working for me and my device isn't even rooted so that was easy. I didn't want to deal with using ADB anyway. |

The same experience with the Google Play. It is possible to install apps via Google Play but by user installed software doesn’t have rights like preinstalled software by manufacturer e.g. Moon+ Reader doesn’t work properly in full screen mode - bottom bar with software buttons doesn’t hide but turns into black color remains there and appears whenever touch a screen. It isn’t possible to set Moon+ as default reader in Settings/User Settings etc.

Download the newer version of the toolkit, install Root Master and read the instructions. After rooting, install the play store. |

Bricked Icarus Illumina E653
Brand new reader. Tried to update firmware to update.zip 2014-11-18.Can connect via USB and have rooted device. Tried to unbrick in line with instructions given by nightboy. adb commands work well, but trying to use update.zip or boot.img from adb level does not work. May be I am using the wrong command language.
Using the Rockchip Batch Tool Interface does not work either because of firmware problem (see attached file). Have no more ideas what to try and really would appreciate a helpful hint. Adrian |

you just have to copy the update.zip to the sdcard. You can do it without using adb command line.

If I copy update.zip to the root directory on the device and reboot the reader through the reset button (power, page and refresh buttons and screen will not respond) the system reboots to the stage where I am asked to confirm the firmware update, but the screen freezes and I am not able to opt for the install option. If you mean to suggest that I should copy the update.zip to the system partition of the Illumina, I frankly do not know how to do it as it is not visible with total commander file manager on my windows 7 system. Sorry for being a bit slow... Adrian |

well, you can fix it without installing the update. I have posted two boot.img for the Icarus (the first one for the B and second one for the C) https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...&postcount=229 to install boot.img Quote:

More Questions on "How to install IMG Files"
Quote:
RK30SDK - Icarus (Drive Letter) When I launch Rom Dumper Tool I get the "Found one Loader Device" window okay . If I subsequently launch "adb reboot-bootloader" nothing happens in the command window. By the way: what do you mean with "download mode"? I get a sound signal and - Icarus (Drive Letter) has disappeared. I can no longer access the Icarus root directory with my file manager. Nothing changes in the Rom Dumper Tool Window. What I do not understand (and I haven't done in yet) is the following: In which directory am I supposed to place the "Icarus_boot1.img" image when progressing and ticking the system partition and adding the address provided by you (0x00008000)? What is the advantage of using the "Icarus_boot1.img" file as opposed to the "boot.img" file contained in the update.zip container? I can only apologize once again for being so dumb, but obviously I am a bit scared of ruining a device, which I have only used for a day and which stalled after trying to run the firmware update provided on the Icarus Site. https://android.stackexchange.com/qu...-download-mode It could be called "boot-loader mode" too. Now to get into download mode (two ways): 1) You can use the adb command which I posted 2) Follow these steps: Quote:
is it the official update from Icarus's website ? |

When I run the "adb reboot-bootloader" command it looks to me as if nothing happens (see attached screen shot). When I adhere to the sequence described by you in an earlier posting (first adb reboot-bootloader command and then running ROM Dumper Tool, I am at a loss how the device stays in the required "download mode" as I have to switch off Icarus for starting ROM Dumper. Could you please answer my question where (root Icarus directory or a special directory on the PC) I should place the "Icarus_boot1.img" or the "boot.img" from the official firmware upgrade mentioned above. What is the advantage of using one or the other? |
