Clues for the last two:
Thomas Gilbert - A Pacific Island nation. This question would have been easier before the country changed its name (it's still named after Thomas Gilbert, just less recognisably) after it gained independence in 1979.
King Mswati II - A country in Africa. A bit more recognisable if you drop the first letter.

For King Mswati II, I'll guess at Swaziland.

I would guess at the Gilbert Islands for the other, but I assume it's changed names and I don't know the new one without looking it up.

It is indeed Swaziland, and it was indeed the Gilbert Islands. The local pronunciation of Kiribati was chosen as the islands' official new name.

Since the name/origin thing is quite fun, here is another one:

Quite a number (though a smaller number than I would have thought) of chemical elements are named after mythological beings (and/or places). 1 point for the element, 1 point for the mythological name.
