There is no reason not to buy an 8Gb with mSD so long as the price is right. You can redirect all of the items to use the mSD if you wish and it becomes the same as a 64GB device (depending of course on the amount of mSD you buy). Performance is not impacted and you still have the 1.5 G free on the main ROM to install new releases.

I'm missing lots of apps and several key specs. Because of that, this phone is strictly a secondary device and will never be a primary device for anything.

For audiobooks and music (streaming, FM, and downloaded), it's a fantastic player. For anything else, I'd get a different device.
I would agree but I would add GPS to the list of good things it can do. It is not clear to me yet whether it will be supported on WP10.

A car GPS is something I don't use, so the GPS is a non-factor for me. If it had a compass, I'd give it a shot at casual benchmarking and geocaching.

From what I've read so far, the 520 and a handful of other Lumias won't get WP 10. Personally, I'm indifferent to it and don't care whether it gets it or not.

Geocaching works just fine with a GPS, no need for a compass. The direction is computed as you move the device in the direction you are going. Lat/lon is the thing you are interested in. I would agree that updating the OS is not really a needed feature so long as the current device works ok.

I'm aware of how it works, but I use a compass for other things while remaining stationary. Having a camera, compass, and GPS in one device saves me from carrying multiple devices.

Right now, I'm listening to Badfinger Radio on Pandora via a Bluetooth hookup with Amazon Echo. Great tunes and fantastic sound!

I was more hinting towards the 2Gb.

I've read that all phones will get the update, even the 520, but that some carriers won't update their branded phones.

In the report, Microsoft officials state that while all Windows Phone 8 flagship devices and the first generation of Lumia phones, including the Nokia Lumia 520, are eligible for update, the final decision will come down to the carriers.

Lots of conflicting reports making the rounds. Time will tell which ones were correct.

Yup but you get what you get. The application 'GPS satellites' is available in the store and it has specific support for geocaching if you wanted to give it a try.

I benchmark more than I geocache and a compass is a must-have.

The Groundspeak geocaching live app is one of the few apps that apears to be better in the WP version than the Android version.

It's going to have to warm up quite a bit here before I actually try it out however. Not that I cache very much anymore.

Well I own a dozen of those so I am usually set pretty well. It is hard to site with a compass built into a phone so I use a real one. benchmark hunting is usually easier that cache hunting. Those cache guys can hide them pretty well. Have fun.

When I do it seriously, I use separate devices - compass, handheld GPS, camera, data sheets, topo maps, etc. When it's casual, it's just a smartphone because it's the only device I have with me and it needs to have all of those features. I do it mainly to go to places I wouldn't normally visit and to study local history.

Thanks for mentioning that app. Looks interesting.

Here's the link for anyone who wants to check it out: GPS Satellite.

Has anyone else asked Cortana who is going to win the Superbowl? Our little opinionated friend is obviously a football fan.
