Mine was being super bratty. He tore the living room looking for something and would not tell me what was it was until he came to my side and started going to do that to my stuff. That when I pushed him away and told him to back off. Finally after he looks like he was about throw himself on the floor kicking and screaming and the living room looked like a tornado went through it he told me he was looking for his vitamins. I calmly walked over to mess all over the floor picked them up and quietly handed them to him then went back to my sofa.

So after he would not accept help with cookies although I threw a few suggestions like make sure you refrigerate the dough for an hour or more depending on how stiff you want it or the icing isn't sticking because the cookies need to cool first. I asked him while baking. Why do I smell pie crust? Now I have alot to clean today.

Picking fights with me never work. I come from a very angry abusive family who screamed and hit and busted things so I got nerves of steel when it comes to childish bratty behavior like his. I think that drives him nuts.

In reality I am his dad the calm adult one and he is totally his mom throwing hissy fits at the stupidest things. I like being dad. He is one of my heroes.

My favorites are still her early Regencies, which came out in the early 1980's (maybe some late 1970's). As hannahai mentions, they are quite tame as far as sex goes, but I'm a sucker for a hopeless romance story line. Her favorite themes are horses, Yankees baseball (for which I have to forgive her ) and history (with just a bit more grounding in history, I think, than the traditional historical romance). There's also often a bit of mystery involved. She doesn't do series, although some characters occasionally get mentioned peripherally in other books.

The two which are still $0.99 at Amazon are two of my favorites, and probably good ones to try at that price, no idea how long it will last:

A London Season (which hannahai mentioned)
link: http://www.amazon.com/London-Season-...dp/B00NE2VAP0/
blurb:
Spoiler:
Quote:
Free rein to love …

Young Lady Jane Fitzmaurice had everything that Regency society approved of – flawless beauty, perfect breeding, and a respectable fortune.

But she also had a mind and heart of her own that set heads shaking and tongues wagging.

Whoever heard of a well-born Miss spending more time in the saddle than in the drawing room? How could she prefer the company of David Chance, her handsome horse-trainer, to that of Julian Wrexham, the most attractive nobleman in England?

Lord Richard's Daughter (although I may lean towards this one because I adore all things Egyptian)
link: http://www.amazon.com/Lord-Richards-.../dp/B00M3HFF4E
blurb:
Spoiler:
Quote:
Was society’s reigning beauty in love with adventure – or with England’s most notorious adventurer?

Lord Richard Wells, Duke of Crewe, had shocked the Regency world by sailing off to darkest Africa. Now, five years later, his lovely daughter, Julianne, returned to London with a story of her father’s tragic death and her own miraculous rescue by the notorious English adventurer, John Champernoun.

Little did aristocratic society suspect what really happened in Africa, nor did Julianne want the truth revealed. For Julianne was determined to leave her perilous past far behind, and find happiness in a supremely safe marriage to the splendidly handsome, wealthy, honorable and adoring Lord William Rutherford. But Julianne was about to learn that she knew more about the heart of the dark continent than she did about her own – when John Champernoun reentered her life to wake memories and desires as sharp-clawed as leopards and even more dangerous.

My absolute favorite is His Lordship's Mistress, which is $3.99 at Amazon US.
link: http://www.amazon.com/His-Lordships-.../dp/B00LLI4X12
blurb:
Spoiler:
Quote:
Jessica O’Neill’s stage career made her the toast of London society. But no one suspected her true identity as a high-born young lady risking her good name to save her family from total ruin. And when the handsome Earl of Linton approaches her with an offer she can’t possibly reject, Jessica must learn to play a wealth-hunting wanton to the hilt – and avoid falling in love …

These three are all fairly short, quick reads. Among the shorter early ones, I also really like The American Duchess, The Scottish Lord, Margarita, The Rebellious Ward, and Fool's Masquerade. Well, I guess I just like them all!

Among her longer historicals, I like The Arrangement, which is $2.99.
link: http://www.amazon.com/Arrangement-Jo.../dp/B00J3CUAPQ
blurb:
Spoiler:
Quote:
Widow Gail Saunders is struggling to support her eight-year-old son, Nicky, by running a small riding school when the Earl of Savile arrives to tell her that Nicky has unexpectedly inherited money from Savile’s cousin. Gail and Nicky spend the summer at Savile Castle, where Gail falls in love with the charming Raoul, a man as far above her in social station as the sun is to the earth. To add to her troubles, someone seems to be trying to kill Nicky. The threads of the story unwind to an unexpected yet satisfying conclusion (which I am not about to reveal here!).

I also like Silverbridge a lot, which is a contemporary, but with flashbacks to the past. It's $2.99 from Hachette right now.
link: http://www.amazon.com/Silverbridge-J.../dp/B001IZC3PG
blurb:
Spoiler:
Quote:
"Joan Wolf writes with an absolute emotional mastery that goes straight to the heart." -Mary Jo Putney

Starring in the role of a lifetime, Tracy Collins goes on location to film a movie set amid the elegance of Regency England. Here, on the lush, sprawling estate of Silverbridge, the American actress is caught between the clashing egos of cast and crew...and undeniably intrigued by Harry Oliver, the devastatingly attractive lord of the manor. Then Tracy begins to have startling visions from the past, more menacing than the dramatic scenes she enacts for the camera. Suddenly, terrifying acts of sabotage and attempted murder-all too real and very much in the present-threaten her and Harry. At stake is a legacy too precious to lose...and a love as fragile as a dream foretold long ago.

And as a pure contemporary, I'm quite fond of High Meadow, which unfortunately is $8.89 from Hachette, which is a ridiculous price for a backlist title. Sigh!
link: http://www.amazon.com/High-Meadow-Jo.../dp/B002ZDJZJM
blurb:
Spoiler:
Quote:
Kate Foley leads a quiet, hard-working life on her family's Connecticut horse farm, where she lives with her widowed mother and seven-year-old adopted son, Ben. With a heart hardened by distrust of men as well as an all-encompassing drive to care for her beloved family, Kate has little time or interest for romance. When Ben's father, a world-famous pitcher for the New York Yankees, makes a sudden and somewhat unlikely entrance into their lives, Kate greets this intrusion with grave suspicion. Daniel Montero is charming, handsome, and worldly, a Colombian with strong feelings for his family and his country. His love for his newly met son is matched only by his interest in beautiful, honest, and straightforward Kate. While Ben and Daniel launch a relationship, strong-willed Kate begins to open her heart. With a picturesque setting, well-developed and likable characters, and an engaging story line, Wolf's latest should be popular with readers who enjoy old-fashioned romance with a little contemporary spice. Catherine Sias

Thanks Sufue for the Joan Wolf recs I have a few in my Kobo library, including Her Lordship's Mistress. I would mention that you really don't have to love horses to enjoy A London Season. I mean, there's not a lot of technical talk about horses or racing. So the author did a really good job of integrating the h/h's passion for horses without boring the reader! I'm looking forward to reading more when I have time off next week

A Christmas Charade by Karla Hocker (Diversion; orig. with Zebra in November 1991).

Quote:
Elizabeth Gore-Langton was hardly in a position to refuse to accompany Lady Astley to the Christmas party at Stenton Castle. After all, a paid companion must follow her employer's wishes. It scarcely mattered that Elizabeth would be forced to face the man who had unknowingly broken her heart years ago during her first season. Most likely, the Duke of
Stenton wouldn't even recognize her. But once she looked up into his dark, piercing eyes, she knew this was a man who forgot very little and forgave even less. Well, she was no longer a blushing schoolgirl, and the dashing duke would soon find that a broken heart, once mended, could be formidable, indeed!

Clive Rowland, Fifth Duke of Stenton, was in no mood for a holiday gathering. But the Christmas gala would provide the perfect cover as he investigated reports that French agents were doing a brisk trade in stolen documents along the Sussex coast. It would be devilishly difficult to play the host while tracking down traitors, but Clive was up to the task—provided he kept his wits about him and didn't get distracted by yule logs and Christmas folderol… or the delightful charms of the disturbingly familiar Elizabeth. She was hiding something, to be sure, and Clive liked nothing better than unveiling a lady's secrets!

Spoiler:
Genevieve and Jeremy have known each other since they were seven, and have been summer best friends at Camp Meira, a Jewish overnight camp in the mountains. As campers, and then as staff, their friendship was a constant, something neither wanted to change, no matter how tempting those changes might be.

Then, last year, with little warning, Jeremy left camp early. After that summer, Gen left the country on a graduate fellowship. Now, a little over a year since they were last at Meira, Gen and Jeremy are back together to help run a special Winter Camp during Hanukkah. Any water under the bridge is frozen this time of year, and with so much left unspoken and unexplained, this week may be their chance to rekindle their friendship, or turn it into something new.

Having said that of course Kobo said there was an error adding to library, and now says I can view it library only of course it's not really there

Sarah Wendell's Lighting the Flames is now free at ARe and Amazon

Don't come to my house and eat anything sweet.

I only use fresh hand churned butter, fresh milk & eggs from free range chickens. Then my flour is milled in small batches and totally different than what is purchased at the store. Everything is purchased from my Amish neighbors.

I also only use raw sugar.
