Hi All,
Small questions ![]() Right now I have jailbroken 5.4.5 with old jailbreak and old kindlet. Everyting works of course, but lets say I want to upgrade to latest version so first I need to update jailbreak, kindlet, kual, koreader to the latest ones from threads or from Niluje's hacks and then apply the latest kindle update from amazon? Thanks in advance. |

Yes, you must ensure the jailbreak is at least v1.13, the best way to do so is to update to v1.14 (current).
The JB for a while now has bundled MKK, and KUAL and KOReader are installed to user storage anyway, you can update those at any time. For a fairly good rundown of your options, see here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...81&postcount=6 NOTE: If you suddenly decide you prefer an older firmware, you are still screwed, unless you like the idea of booting into diags mode, SSHing into your Kindle, and overwriting the main kernel through the command-line. ![]() Last edited by eschwartz; 12-08-2014 at 02:54 PM. |

Just to throw some useless garbage into the thread, is there a way to script a complete screen refresh (the one that Kindle does every few page turns to eliminate ghosts)?
If yes, you might want to use it to enforce a refresh in usbnet installation bin: infact, it turns most of the page black with a "progress bar" on the bottom, but not doing a refresh of the screen you can "see" your library as a ghost on the background. ![]() |

@Ruskie_it: the idea was to use a custom background image at one point, which would take care of that, except I haven't had time to come up with something on that front yet

The time used (and there is a lot of it) is all volunteered. The things that time is spent on are the things the volunteer is interested in. "Attitude" does not enter into the equation. You want this feature - you code it or hire it done. It is as simple as that. The person interested in the feature does the work. We do not do custom firmware on-demand here (unless your paying the individual the current, commercial rates). |

Come on, does that look insulting??? No need to get touchy, I'd say.
It was just a joke, based on the fact that that was only a cosmetic issue, nothing important. Quote:
Anyway as I said, I was just kidding, I hope NiLuJe understood that. |

Jailbreak Broken with 6.5.1
Unfortunately I was able to survive the automatic upgrade in the past, but this time it doesn't seem to work by copying the files over again. :/

Stupid me did something I never did since I have the paperwhite. I left the wifi turned on.
And today when I picked up my turned off kindle I noticed the "unfamiliar" classic kindle screensaver. Guess what: my kindle updated. I already was in 5.6.1 though, so yes: a new fw version has been released. My kindle reads 5.6.1.0.2 now. So this message is to notify you of some things: I was on JB 1.14 KUAL 2.5, and the JB holds. Kterm still is executed as root. I have reinstalled SS hack and usbnet hack, and they still works. Also: as update prevention method, apart from keeping wi-fi turned off, I used the update.bin.tmp.partial directory on the userstore main directory: apparently, this trick ceased working |
