In the beginning, I did not have good battery life on the hd6. I completely drained the battery and then put it to charge. It seems to have improved the battery life a little. Still not great, but better. I am setting mine up with free time and will give it to my daughter for Christmas
I do like the hd6, but I think a slightly larger screen is better for my needs. I may get the hdx7 or the new Asus memo pad 7 me572. I haven't made up my mind . Penny |

I've done that with KF6 charging it after a complete drain leaving it on overnight. No difference. |

The battery life of the HD6 is much better than my 2nd Gen Fire, but is nowhere near the battery life of my N7. I still love that cute little thing!
I ended up repurchasing some of my Google Play apps for the HD6 with coins because sideloading brought up Google Play Store nag screens. A shame Amazon is so territorial. ![]() |

I do miss the extra screen space though. |

On the 7" I have all those installed plus Candy Crush Saga, Farm Heroes Saga, Netflix, Slacker Radio, Tune In, Calibre companion, Holy Bible, Photo Editor, App manager Pro, GSam Battery. I can leave WiFi on on the 7 and a day later lose about 3% battery. On the 6 I turn WiFi off and lost about 12% since last night which is about 12 hours. Nothing is running in the background but default stuff. I don't get what is draining it so fast! ![]() |

In order to discover what's draining your battery, you could temporarily uninstall apps one at a time and see if that makes any difference, starting with the most likely culprits. Another thought: Perhaps settings are different between the two devices—either general device settings or within individual apps (both preinstalled and downloaded). You might want to compare all settings. Hope you're able to figure it out! Last edited by DreamWriter; 12-05-2014 at 06:58 PM. |

I've been eyeing the Asus me572 also. Currently $180 at Best Buy. If it goes on sale, I'd be mightily tempted.

I have been going to the best buy site on a daily basis hoping to find the Asus tablet on sale. I just don'tknow if iI want the Asus or the hdx. I do have prime, but it's nice to have working screen savers and wallpaper .
![]() How is the performance on the hdx? I use fbreader with a background image which would hopefully help with the blue edge on white background. I am just looking for a replacement for my nook hd+. I have to wiggle the charger to get it charge up and it randomly reboots. Seems like it's dying so I want a decent replacement. I mostly check email, watch movies, browse the Internet. The hd6 does make a good reader, but Web browsing on it is just hard on my eyes. Like a tiny blur. Penny Last edited by mystika1; 12-05-2014 at 06:36 PM. |

I don't own an Amazon tablet so I've nothing to compare. I am looking for a basic generic Android tablet with a good screen. The Samsung Pro 8.4 was $200 on BF but I found it heavy and awkward to hold.

Nexus 7 is an excellent tablet and now with Lollipop it has even more features. I just hoping someone can get flash to work again. I use it for everything. It has the best text rendering I've seen on a 7" tablet. Good battery life, solid and very light and easy to hold.
