I think that's just something companies say.

ie: I cancelled my hulu plus subscription a couple months ago and they said because I was one of their "favorite subscribers" they would give me two months free to stay.

What is the big deal about Cyber Monday?

Every year the so-called experts claim you get the best deals on that day and every year you don't. The best deals happen during Black Friday or the days leading up to it.

The only things I bought were featured in early Black Friday deals on Massdrop and weren't relevant to Mobile Read: 1. Jubilee edition Beyerdynamic T90s and Simple Audio Listens (bluetooth speakers). The latter were $149 but originally went for $500.
