Making the above statement makes me realise I have no idea how the other formats are handled. CBZ/CBR, MOBI, TXT etc. They can all be read on the device, but I've never bothered to look for what is doing it. |

Last time I looked at MOBI format, it was handled by libpdb.so. I played with recompiling a newer version but never did get it to work any better.

Another new bug in ACCESS (<img>s are FUBAR)
And yet ANOTHER NEW BUG...
Look at the attached pictures from ACCESS renderer and from Calibre Editor opening that same book. <img> rendering has gone FUBAR:
(I've confirmed this issue in several books. And IIRC, this issue didn't happen in older firmwares, let's say 3.3 or 3.5 at least...) |

Glo
Not sure it's a firmaware bug but here is my experience.
I have updated my Kobo GLO to latest firmware. From that moment every time I try to open an epub downloaded from my public digital library (DRM protected) I receive a messege that the Adobe ID is incorrect as the epub is apparently associated to a different Adobe ID. To be precise: (a) I have only 1 Adobe ID; (b) the same epub works perfectly with the same Adobe ID (which Kobo finds incorrect) on different devices and on ADE itself (!!); (c) Kobo hard-reset did not changed anything; (d) I have uninstalled-reinstalled Kobo Desktop and ADE but nothing changed; (e) I have de-authorized and re-authorized both ADE and Kobo but nothing changed. I think that the epub is effectiverly copied on the device for I can see the title in the list (although with a black cover) and some details. I tend to believe that it is a BIG BUG of the firmaware. Can anybody please help? Thank you so much. |

As far as I know, one workaround that seems to have worked for some people is de-authorizing and re-authorizing the reader using the CTRL-Shift-E combination while ADE is open and the reader is connected. I'm on 3.11 and I don't have this problem though, I don't know if it's a bug in the firmware...
Edit: Perhaps I should mention that I'm using ADE 3.0 and not the latest version. Last edited by mathil; 11-18-2014 at 07:44 AM. |

Well I will admit that I just save the Adobe authorization files and restore them to my Kobo(s) after resets.

Workaround: Alf and Calibre
For quite a long time I've just authorized ADE in my PC. My eReaders only contain unDRMed versions. No further help is allowed here, but it's really easy to do. Just google for it. Last edited by arspr; 11-18-2014 at 04:49 PM. |

Now you can even test your books with KoboTouch Extended Driver. It allows you to convert them to kepubs on the fly, (on your HDD and Calibre library they will continue as epubs). Of course this Calibre plugin needs unprotected epubs as source..., like the ones you now have. Kepub renderer is different from epub one. I wouldn't say better or worse but just different. There's a recent thread about them here. In fact I would always use the Extended driver instead of the original one included in Calibre because you can activate/deactivate the kepub conversion as desired (an option called something like "Enable Kobo advanced features"). And it offers other additional options over Calibre default one. |

Strange.. got a new Glo for my wife's christmas at local Dutch store Bol.com, at setup it display the usual things,I choosed wifi setup and after it,it search for new firmware.
After loading it,it does not ask for a Kobo account, but for a Bol.com account. After filling the Bol.com account, it say transferring Bol.com books to Kobo or something like that and it sends the already purchased EPUBS at Bol.com to the device. It is 3.11.0 software but never saw this behave before and it doesn't do it at my own device (Sync the Bol.com books).. 3.11.0 4d8eac1207,16-10-14 shown at device information. |

Sounds like it's related to the AFFILIATE that the device is set too.
Take a look at affiliates.conf in the .kobo directory on the device. |

affiliate=BOL but if I change mine into BOL it still doesn't offer to transfer the epubs in my account to the device, maybe only when I do a factory reset... but the Dutch version of the online Koboshop no longer exists and the international does not recognised my account and I can't change it to BOL.com and with the Factory reset all the books are lost... I was just interested a while ago how Kobo and Bol as a Kobo reader reseller would do this with both a shop, but that was like I said simple.. they closed the online Koboshop. The BOL account is migrated in a Kobo account, when I do a search in the shop via the device and download a preview, and say delete it, it says delete in the Kobo shop also, so the Bol account is migrated since she never created a kobo account. Nothing has changed. Your problem must be something else. Are you using the correct username and password combination? I logged on to my Kobo account. Under the My Account (or Profile tab), there is an option to connect a Rakuten, bol.com and facebook account to you Kobo account (screenshot attached). Your don't have to change any (account related) setting of your Kobo device. And a factory reset doesn't help either. To connect your bol.com and Kobo accounts you have to logon to your online Kobo account (use the link in this post). Last edited by Anak; 11-27-2014 at 10:56 AM. Reason: screenshot |

Maybe this is not the right place to discuss about the website part, but the homepage is back.
It was: http://www.kobonederland.nl It is back online but look like this one: http://www.kobonederland.nl/scherp-geprijsde-ebooks/ It is an 404 and if u scroll down a bit, you can see that the page doesn't fit into the frame. http://www.kobonederland.nl/ebookfestival/ Also 404 Logging in at my account did give an Libris error. But the Libris statement is gone, maybe there was a problem with the page when I looked. Coming back to the firmware: Also, on the sleep screen of my wife it is telling: bol.com above the cover, it isn't on mine. When I go to accounts on the reader I see an Kobo account with her e-mail that she created at Bol,never at Kobo. When I press the sign out, it reboots into factory reset and you have to do the complete setup again including wifi key. Attached pic, sleep screen with the Bol.com logo. |

No, that is not the Dutch Kobo store.
This is the official website: http://store.kobobooks.com/nl-nl/ Quote:
