Voyage skins

Apologies if this has been posted but I just saw that DecalGirl now has Voyage skins and everything is 25% off through Nov 30.

Must order one! As happy as I am with my Omoton case I still want a skin for my Voyage!

Never having used such a thing, I'm curious what it actually does. Is it a protective thing, or just something that makes your Voyage look different?

I've always considered them strictly decorative, but DecalGirl says they are "Thin and tough - protects from minor scratches".

I skinned a number of my older devices. I like the decorative aspect, and it does indeed protect devices from scratches. They also come in a matte version that is fingerprint resistant.

The naked bezel of my voyage is now covered in my fingerprints.

It can be decorative as well as protective. Many people enjoy the vast selection of patterns, color, artwork, etc. I, OTOH, use DG skins for the purpose of covering shiny, plastic bezels or those that are prone to fingerprints and/or scratches without altering the look of the device. For example, I really disliked the bezel on the Aura HD due to gloss and constant fingerprints so I applied a matte black skin. It is not detectable and has eliminated all fingerprints while adding a very slight bit of texture -- improving handling. There is a black woodgrain skin that is quite nice too. All of DecalGirl's skins are of very high quality.

Harry they are just fun really, I think, or at least, the way I use them.

I bought this one from what is now called Nuvango for the Paperwhite and actually, and I feel daft saying this, but it is a small, additional reason for why I would like a book-type cover.

I put the part that was for the back, in the inside flap of the PW cover and the little white chap picks up the low light of the Paperwhite in the small hours of the morning and, idiotic as it sounds, vaguely keeps me company.

I like the artist's work and, even better, he seems like a really nice man as I had reason to contact him a while back.

So yeah, just a bit of fun. I have no idea how they would interfere with the page press function but i do know that CS at Nuvango tell me that when they develop the Voyage skins they will be sure to leave a hole to place where the light sensor is.

Also, not too sure how this would work on a flat surface. On the PW bezel a bit of a surface is fine since the bezel is raised anyhow. A sticker on a dead flat surface could be irritating perhaps. It will, as walkways, differ from person to person, no doubt.

Perhaps a skin wouldn't work quite so well on the Voyage due to the flush screen? I think that, for me at least, being able to feel the edge of the skin would detract from the appeal of the device.

Yup, that was my point too, the urge to peel it off would be great! And yes also re the light sensor, they say that they'll take that into account.

I have one on my iPad which is a flush screen and it's fine. I really hope to find some indication of where the page turn areas are as I read a lot in the dark (insomnia) with the light at 4-5 and often have to try different places to find where to press.

No, there is a cutout for the light sensor and markings (like those on the bezel) that show where the page back / forward areas are. The back has a cutout for the power button.

I got mine last night and my Voyage is now "dressed up"!
