I haven't redeemed any no-rush Prime shipping credits yet, but according to several posts in this thread, more than one credit can be used on a single order.

I am still in love with my hd6. So much so that I am considering getting another fire tablet to share with my daughter. There is right now an offer for refurbs HDX 7 (but only 16 GB) 2nd generation for 139 EUR which is not bad...

What are the main differences between the HD and the HDX in your opinion ?

Get the HDX; it's better for quite a few reasons -- better screen resolution (323ppi vs 216ppi), better and faster CPU, longer battery life, better WiFi, better front camera, and it's 34g lighter. The HD has a rear camera (not very good) and the HDX doesn't. All in all, the HDX is much better; primarily because of it's superior screen resolution.

Only if this years HDX doesn't have blue LEDS or you wont be able to read on it comfortably with that horrible blue haze border. The 8.9 uses white LEDS and does not have this problem but the HDX 7 from last year suffered horribly from discoloration. I went through 3 or 4 of them before I gave up and got the HD 7.

Going on last year's model. Blue LEDs on the HDX that led to discoloration or Normal LEDS on the HD 7 that did not have this problem. I went through 3 or 4 HDXs last year before I gave up and got the HD7.

My first impressions on the HD6 is that it's tiny! You know how I have very small child size hands well I can hold this tablet with one hand. The weight seem distributed perfectly so it's not too light or too heavy. The PPI is excellent. On the HD 7.2 it seems text is a bit fuzzy but the HD6 does not have this problem. That extra PPI really makes a difference. I think it will be excellent reading device for those who do not need gigantic text size to read on. I will agree to others this tablet is super shiny. Meaning reflections everywhere! It's super glossy so it shows finger prints quite badly. Keep a cleaning cloth nearby. The sound is good enough for audio books but sounds muffled on music. you will need additional speaker or headphones. I have not tried video on it. It's quite loud for a little device though.

One thing I notice from a regular Kindle is this tablet is narrow so the amount of text you get is smaller than a Kindle PW but due to the text rendering you will be able to easily read at a smaller text size. The text is sharp, clear and easy to see at smaller points. This is a huge plus most smaller devices skimp on this but Amazon did their homework here.

The only two cons I have found is the glossiness of the tablet which is really annoying and the speaker quality. Once I get a case the quality will probably sound better in my experience with Poetic cases.

The back is plastic so if you read normally without a case you want to get a TPU case to give some grip to it.

Thanks for your review, Blossom!

I purchased the Fire HD 6 mainly for video and music streaming, but I hope to use it as a nighttime reading device since my Kindle Keyboard doesn't have a built-in light. Glad to know it'll probably work fine for that purpose!

Mine was scheduled to arrive next week since I opted for the $1 delayed-shipping credit, but it'll be delivered tomorrow along with a silicone cover and a SlimPort USB cable I ordered just yesterday. I'm excited!

With such a large library do you use Collections? If so I would love to know what your experience is on the HD 6. Especially their behavior after waking it from sleep mode. Or when turning it on and off.

I only have small collections. It seems to me that Sangria has changed collections from when they were first introduced you could do alot more with them. Like I could multi add books from my Book shelf know I have to do it from the carousel.

I think it's a bit small for videos but I have been known to watch videos on my 5" tablet but I prefer a 7" tablet for videos. Music will be okay with a good pair of headphones or speakers.

True. So have to wait and see what they do, should they make one.

I agree. Most of the time I'll watch streaming video sent from the Fire HD 6 to TV using a SlimPort USB to HDMI adapter.

As far as music goes, I'll stream from the Fire to my bluetooth speaker or use headphones, so I don't mind that this Fire has only one speaker.

I still haven't watched any video on my Fire 6. I did try to find the new prime music stations but couldn't find them in the brief time I looked. I'm the kind of person who watches videos with the sound off anyway.

Typing this on my Fire 6 in the Chrome browser. The predictive text is very good.

Chrome works on the Kindle Fire? I didn't know that. The Prime stations are right on the music menu. They have quite a few holiday stations.
