I didn't have a Prime subscription and I've been eying the small Fire, so I took advantage of the $40 off Prime-Kindle/Fire promo that tubemonkey mentioned.

I opted for slow shipping to get a $1 app/digital music/e-book credit, so my 16 GB Fire HD 6 (my first Fire!) won't arrive until next week. In the meantime, I'm enjoying Prime music and videos on my Android tablet and Chromebook. Love it!

Congrats. Everyone loves the 16GB HD 6. Amazon struck gold with that size. Now I hope they'll offer the HDX in a 6" version -- sharper display, faster CPU, longer battery life, improved wifi, stereo speakers, better cameras, larger storage capacities, MayDay, etc.

It's here!!!! My is it tiny! No brightness problem. It goes as dark as my HD7 did before the update. I'm letting is sync right now. I got 10,000+ books so it may take awhile. My gosh it is tiny!!! I can hold it with one hand.
