Kindle FreeTime Questions

Hi,
I am thinking about using Kindle FreeTime, but I am unsure if it would even be worth it for my 11 year old. I want it mostly for parental controls.
1. Is there any content that an 11 year old would like? I read that it is geared for ages 3-8.
2. How good are the parental controls? My dd was able to reset my original kindle fire which in turn removed all of my parental controls and made that feature useless. She wasn't watching porn or anything, but she wanted to have a facebook page and a texting app.

FreeTime is free and FreeTime Unlimited has a monthly fee. The plain version has no content and the Unlimited one includes content. With both, you can add content to your kid's library. Give it a try to see what it's like.

I've got to turn on the Parental Controls the next time I let the kidlets near the Fire HDX. The 6 year old bought the video "The Biggest Machines In The World", when the video he had been previously watching ended. He told me it cost $2.99 but apparently that is the rental cost - and he hit the "buy" button instead ($9.95).

That'll teach me to take a bathroom break while that device is in his hands!

You definitely want FreeTime activated. What's cool about it is the blue background. That way you can ensure the kidlet hasn't hacked his way out yet.

Since they only have access to the HDX when I'm at their house, I think if I can just lock down the store and the browser temporarily, I'll be okay. The videos and music that I have on there are all okay for kids to see/listen. They're into the games that I have that they don't have on their iPads, and all of my games are family-friendly.

And I'm normally in the same room with whoever's playing on it, and so far they've not shown any interest in my books. Most of the kids' books that I've purchased are on my Nook.
