Hi there,

I bought a Kindle Paperwhite2 in France, and unfortunately, we don't have freetime on this model.
I don't know why, since it's available on the new Kindle Basic

Anyway, I really want to use this feature, so could you telle me if I can install an US firmware on my french PW2 ?

There is no "US" or "French" firmware: there's only one firmware. The features that are available to you depend on what country your Amazon account is in, not on the actual Kindle.

In my experience while travelling internationally, Freetime does work, but some content, particularly videos may not be available due to geographic restrictions.

So I should get a US account, but none of my amazon Ebook already bought would be available.

Since this feature is ok on the new Kindle basic with a french account, we can hope it will be soon on the PW2.

EDIT : I juste tried with an US account, and it works
But only with book bought on Amazon store.
