Better to also make a remark on the 2014-PW2 which may have the "Downgrade Attack" fix included.
O.P. mentioned a 5.6.x series firmware (which may have the 'fix'), since others of that series seem to have it.

@knc1: I'll update that if/when FW >= 5.5/5.6 makes it to the PW2 . Right now they're still on 5.4.5.1.

On the other hand, the KV is on 5.5 and the KT2 on 5.6 .

According to us it is the KT2 not the kb. And PW2 != pw, because that is just way too ambiguous, but AMazon thrives on ambiguous

IMPORTANT notice to FW >= 5.4.5 users:

This will NOT work on FW >= 5.4.5!
Currently, it does survive an update to 5.4.5 though, provided you've never reset your device to factory defaults, so, if you intend to update to 5.4.5, JailBreak your device first (if it's at all doable for your specific device. KT2 & KV users, you're out of luck for now) . If you're unsure of having ever done a factory reset or a registration switch, and/or you want to make absolutely sure you won't get screwed, install the bridge first (it's the Update_jailbreak_bridge_*_install.bin file in the JailBreak package, see the relevant section in #2 for more details).
If your PW2 shipped on 5.4.5 or newer, all is not lost, you should be able to downgrade to 5.4.3.2 with a bit of trickery.

I'm not sure i getting this point correctly . My Kindle paperwhite 2013 has been done both factory reset and registration switch. And currently its version is 5.4.5.1.
Now i'm planning to jailbreak by following steps:

1. Install the bridge first (it's the Update_jailbreak_bridge_*_install.bin file in the JailBreak package, see the relevant section in #2 for more details).
2. Downgrade to 5.4.3.2
3. Do Jailbreak normally as mentioned in post #1
4. Upgrade to 5.4.5.1 again

Anyone pls help to confirm above steps is correct or not?
I have one ppw2 bricked before and i dont want this one face same issue.

FW 5.6.x PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT

Given what we've seen on the KV & KT2, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say:

Don't update to 5.6.x on a PW2 if you want to keep being able to downgrade. The JB will (most likely) survive, but I'm pretty sure you won't be able to downgrade if things go wrong.

In order to make sure you do not get automatically updated by an over-the-air update sent from Uncle Amazon, I would seriously suggest following the instructions here: Kindle_Touch_Hacking#Blocking_Official_Updates

That should spare you in case NiLuJe's predictions are correct.

Sorry to bother you.

I downgrade my PW2 to 5.4.3.2 in order to JB it, and upgrade it to 5.4.5.1. Everything was fine until I saw some issues and decided to un-jailbreak my PW2 and re-jailbreak it later.

To un-jailbreak it, I first reset my PW2 and downgrade it back to 5.4.3.2. However, I have encountered "Update error 4" when attempting to downgrade it.
Then I saw one of your posts telling that we should use the Update_jailbreak_1.12.N_uninstall.bin to un-jailbreak instead of resetting PW2. After I using the bin, I still face the same error when downgrading it.
Truth is that it is said that we should uninstall all bin we've installed after jailbreaking first. So then I had no way but to use a bin to uninstall kpvbooklet, and then still, I encountered "Update error 4" when attempting to downgrade my PW2 again.

It seems I've already made a big mistake, is there any way to fix it? Thanks for help.

You should not have reset, I believe.

Also, never un-jailbreak, there is no point. Just uninstall the actual hacks, that should be good enough to avoid all issues. (The JB is nothing but a single signing file that validates non-Amazon updates. It cannot break anything on its own, though obviously you can then install dangerous updates.)

Also, in order to downgrade without the JB, you will need to follow the instructions from the link in the first post. That should enable you to JB, and then uninstall problem hacks.
