Kind of like how LCD manufacturers determine X number of dead pixels and Y number of dead sub pixels are "acceptable." |

My day old KV looks pretty good to me. Not the best photo. This is at 14. Yesterday I saw a bit of a hue but today it is gone. I did a little squeezing around the edge of the bezel all the way around last night. Not sure if this made a difference or not, but maybe.

Hey, I never even would have thought about it, so thanks for the tip, even if CS in the end didn't help. Last edited by xendula; 11-04-2014 at 09:21 PM. |

Here's another one. Little bit blurrier but maybe that is because it is in a dark room this time. Took both at 14 with my Samsung S4 smartphone. I think I just got a good one. Hopefully one where the hue is "manageable" at least. No pin holes so that is GOOD too.

Just received my Kindle Voyage yesterday, I like it, the build, the performance and font crispness, over all it looks great and I'm keeping it.
The bad thing is that it has this pink tone too, it shows up and disappear based on the light around me, but even when it disappears, my eye catch it while I'm reading and my brain know it's there ![]() I have Kobo Aura, and checked Kobo Aura H2O several times in the Fnac shop next to my work place, and I can say that the Kobo has better light, the H2O with the proper font and setting could probably look as amazing as that of Voyage (not sure about the darkness and contrast though, I think the voyage is a major winner there). Why am I keeping the Voyage? Well, it balances itself in my had better, the sharpness of the fonts, and the contrast. I find myself turning the lights of the Kindle to their lower settings, where there is no pink color at all, just because the lights in my office are good. The clarity of the text is really amazing, and the responsiveness of the device is really good, I didn't like the H2O responsiveness at all, they should have used a capacitive touch screen. I also tried PDF on the Voyage, very responsive, the zooming of the pdf in landscape mode was amazing. Also, when reading normal books, the "Page Flip" feature is amazing. I'm not sure if there are Kindle Voyages out their that don't have this pinkish tone, most of the reviews I read so far and watched say something about it, should I contact Amazon and ask for replacement? do they allow me to keep both for comparison? I'm enjoying what I have now, but would really prefer if this pink just go away ![]() |

I told them that I really don't think it's normal for the top 1/3rd of the screen to be tinted yellow and that this is an issue that is being widely reported online. They are going to get back to me in 24-48 hours. I really hope this isn't the stance that amazon is going to be taking now regarding the KV screens... |

Here's a picture of my Voyage. Would one of you who's been suffering from what you perceive as "bad" screens be kind enough to tell me what you think of my screen, which looks absolutely fine to me?

I can see a yellow tint at the top but that may not bother you and I don't know if it's worse if you have the light higher. On my PW I set the light between 18 and 22, I like my screen bright.

It looks yellow on top and bluer on the bottom, but acceptable. Most of my reading occurs in bright locations and I rarely use the light setting above 8. This helps to mask the screen deficiencies.

Thank you. That pretty much confirms my suspicion, which is that most Voyage screens are similar, but some people are more sensitive to the perceived colour issues than others. To me, my screen looks absolutely uniform. Obviously that's not to say that some screens aren't genuinely bad, or that if you think a screen has a problem, then that problem is obviously very real to you, regardless of what anyone else thinks.
