But let's turn to the positive...:

My favorite new feature on the Fire is the ability to Share selected text with any app that registers for Sharing. Yes, just like you might expect of a real mobile app. So, for example, you can save a highlight directly to Evernote or email, not just Goodreads/FB/Twitter. Unfortunately you cannot do that with Personal Documents, but there are workarounds (e.g. highlight, capture screen, share the image with Evernote, which will index the text to make it searchable).
My favorite new feature is the quick list, I know my Fire 2012 had the favorites list but I love this one so much better since my most recent apps are right at the top.

My second favorite feature is the light weight of the device, even in a cover it is so easy to hold and read for several hour stretches.

I didn't realize that about the PDs, I do not use too many docs and most of them are spreadsheets or Word docs.

It's the same thickness as the 1st generation KF, and is only 4.5 oz lighter. I physically and mathematically just compared both.

I got my Citron, and it works this time! The black and magenta have arrived also, but I'm leaving those sealed since they will be presents.

I've got to put an anti-glare protector on today, even my dining room lights glare on the screen. I haven't found much, except total darkness, that doesn't create a glare.

I'm amazed at the speaker, much better than I expected. I'll still use my LG bluetooth headphones most of the time though.

Screen responsiveness can be slow at times, but it's not a big issue.

Let us know which AG protector you got, and how you like it after it's on.

I just ordered this one.

Well that 4.5 oz may not seem like much to you but for me and my one-handed reading for 2-6 hours at a time, it makes a big difference to me.

Not opening it. I'm just making sure I have one in case it sells out before Christmas. If it goes on sale, I'll return it and get the one on sale.

I returned my HD 6 today. I did get it set up as i wanted it to be but ended up realising that my ipad mini gives me exactly the same functionality as the HD and in some cases better options.

The main issues I had with the HD 6 was

1) Personal Documents (which in my case are all ebooks) only show covers in the Carousal or the collections view. In list view the covers are not shown, just the book title (can't remember if the authors are shown, but I don't think so)

2) Collections view does not have the ability to sort by either recent, title or author. Thats only possible in List view

So in a nut shell my collection of 183 books can show me covers but i can't sort it at all, and the list view, which is all my personal document collections compiled together, can sort but doesn't show me any covers.

The ipad app does both these things, and it doesn't split books and personal documents up into two seperate sections either.

I didn't delve too much into the books section as the majority of my 'books' are personal documents. I know i could use Calibre Collections but i can use Calibre with Marvin on my ipad mini and get practicaly the same result.

I was probably stupid to even get the HD 6 in the first place but i wanted a smaller form that my ipad mini. I'm going to get a thinner lighter case for my mini instead and work with what i have.

I honestly didn't expect the free ios app to have better functionalty than their own Fire tablets.

To me it feels about the weight of a small hardcover book. It is not bad to hold and read from, but you feel that weight if you carry it in a shirt pocket or pants pocket. I think the next iteration needs a weight reduction.
I like the stability of the little device, it seems less buggy than my 2013 Fire HD 7, which makes me hope that when the 2013 device gets its upgrade it will be more stable, fewer crashes.
Overall very pleased with the Fire HD6, seems the perfect size for reading a book, and text-to-speech works great also. That one speaker worried me, but it is loud enough.

I would, only I'm not opening it right away. I'm waiting to see if Amazon places their Fires on sale on Cyber Monday like they did last year. See post 595.
