Interesting how popular the different colors are - in the colored Fires and in the Kid Fires.

6" Magenta and Green Kids Editions are available, but Blue Kids Edition is not shipping until "The week of" Nov 3.

One might assume that the 6" are more popular, however that assumption would be implicitly assuming that they built the same quantity of 6" as 7". Same would go for presuming that a particular color is more popular. We don't know what manufacturing quantities have been. * But for the sake of discussion I am presuming that about the colors*

However, if you are hankering for a particular color, or a particular color of a particular configuration you may want to get your shopping done sooner vs. later. With the items that aren't available until Nov 23rd, or worse that aren't shipping for 2-4 months (at this time), don't count on any Black Friday deals for those.

Me - I am super glad I got my KFGen1 replaced on that Best Buy trade-up deal. I also just ordered a green Kids Edition for one of my kids and went for the delivery on release day option. Fortunately she preferred green to blue and I didn't have to sell her on an alternate color choice.

I just ordered a HD 6, 16GB Citron from Best Buy. According to the shipping date, it will be available on Oct. 21. Shows they will only be available for shipping. So I guess Amazon is sending a few colors along with the Voyage.

I agree with you Piepan. I can't see any of these being reduced for Black Friday. Not with those shipping dates.

OK, I'm a coward. After dropping it a couple of times already (no damage) I ordered the slimmest case I could find that should still offer some protection, and maybe not add much bulk:

It didn't help that my brother visited today and told me horror stories about how many times his wife has broken and lost her smartphones. I also set a password for the device, something I don't usually do.
Really happy with it so far, it is living up to the hype for me. Hope you folks are enjoying your Fire tabs.

Yes I love them. I admit I have never drop one my eInk Kindles I have baby them but my Kindle Fire has fallen a few times. It my Nexus 7 when it go plop I get scared even though I have Squaretrade for another year.

I only got 1 year on my Nexus 7. I don't let anyone else handle it.

Does anyone buy squaretrade warranties for their Fires? Maybe I should for the ones I am getting for my girls. Even with the Poetic Revolution cases, they tend to leave them in places, like the floor, that make me shudder.

FYI - Getting the SQ warranty on the Fire from Amazon at time of purchase is significantly cheaper.

I think I am going to go ahead and order everything now, with delivery Mid-November. That way I will be done with it. Throw in a couple of Barbies or Bratz (already have some that I bought last year) and that's all they need for Christmas!

I always buy Square Trade warranties. Once you register your account online, you will usually get email offers with at least 30% off. I laugh when Best Buy tries to sell me their Geek Squad warranties. (The only item employees receive a commission from.)

Thankfully, I've never had to make a claim, but just in case.

I didn't get a warranty for MY Fire 6. I figure the Amazon warranty is good enough for me, since I don't let anyone use it but me. I'm selfish that way

Amazon has the SQ for $25 which is still cheaper than 30% off of $40 (which is what the SQ web site offers). For my girls' Fires, the SQ warranty makes sense.

One of my favorite features on the previous Fires was the slide-out TOC. It doesn't seem to be working on my HD6. Wants to turn the page back, or highlight something instead. Have to tap to bring up options and then tap the menu icon. Hope they fix this (and fix it on the Android app while they are at it). Slide-outs on other apps are also a little balky. I think they just need to fine tune for the higher dot pitch.

But in almost every other respect (except for not being able to tell if collection items are on the device or not), I like everything they have done with the software as compared to my HD7 (though I'm guessing that difference will go away after the latter gets the FireOS update).

I like that, I think I am going to get one for extra files. You can use it without a computer to transfer back and forth on the Fire?

I just went thru my entire library of apps at Amazon and only 2 of the 2001 would download to the fire HD6. Angry Birds Space and Snood. No others were marked as compatible. Was told to go thru the appstore now and check for fire hd6 apps. Will return before I purchase/rebuy any other apps for it. They have no idea when the apps will be made compatible for this new fire. only way is to sideload the apk from my other devices.

I think it may take awhile for some apps to be updated in Amazon's App Store for Sangria. Two apps critical to me need updates for the Fire HD 6: Box and Spotify.
Yet I had no issues with Overdrive like some folks did, maybe it was already updated by the time I installed it. I think the big apps will gradually get updated for the new Fires.

If I swipe down from top of Fire there is a notification that I am connected to storage media. If I tap this notification one of the options is to Safe Eject USB.
