The yellowness of the screen is maybe down to preference, but if that was an image of a PW posted in the Kobo forum I'd bet there would be people slating it. However, apart from some of the H2O's having a slightly strong yellow tinge to them, it is true that the H2O looks to be a winner from Kobo. It's taken the success and quality of the Aura HD to a new level, and aside from those who want to stay with an Amazon backed ereader, or don't want a bigger screen, or want the higher resolution, page turns of the Voyage, right now the H2O is the best ereader there is. It remains to be seen if the Voyage equals it (or betters it), and unfortunately for Josieb1, she's just been very unlucky with her three attempts to buy one. I think there must be at least two faulty batches of H20's, otherwise why would I get three faulty ones and a beedaddy from Germany has also had three faulty. It seems like the batches are going to certain areas. That makes more sense than just random faulty ones. Although I did by one locally from Argos and then had two online from Argos, maybe they serve the store and the online orders in my area from the same warehouse. Who knows. |

I saw the pictures you posted and the tint of the screen looked perfectly fine to me. Far better than the blue flashlight color screen of the Kobo Glo that you just bought, imho. I don't recall any darker bits in the photo-I would have to look again.

At the end of the day they don't advertise the H20 as being yellow, it's advertised as white and clear. And that is what I expect to get.

Concerning colors - what is wrong with colored leds where I can adjust a little bit? The Kindle app let you change to sepia or green backgrounds - why not the eink ones as well? There clearly is different opinions what is better. Not only what is better, but what looks more like a paper book. |

You're certainly within your right to return it if you don't like it but including it in your "faulty" list is disingenuous in my opinion. I don't like red but I would never call a red shirt faulty.

Let's just agree to disagree shall we as your opinion on what's faulty is obviously not mine and anyway this is a Kindle thread not a kobo. I've ordered the Kindle Voyage so and as the UK is two weeks behind on release dates I'm looking forward to what people think when they get it. |

They're not even go for preorder yet in Canada, which is another reason to wait. Here's waiting for reviews about the touch sensitive bezel and the screen, and how well they work in real life, versus very controlled conditions. |

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. My Voyage isn't here yet and I still plan to go to Best Buy just to take a peek. Quote:
This PW1 and the missing SD card is why I started looking at Kobos this time around. I picked up one a few years ago and immediately returned it. Hated it. The only thing I liked about it was the SD card. Still missing it in my Kindle. That's why I'm going to check out the Aura HD and the H2O - little chance I will buy one, though.

You might need to adjust the sensitivity of it, but I'd be surprised if many people actually switched it off for technical rather than personal reasons.

I hold my Kindles with my my thumb exactly over the area where the page turn button is. I have carpal tunnel and arthritis so I frequently readjust my position to ease the stress and/or pain. That's why I'm concerned. I understand about the pressure thing because my current Kindle - a PW1 - will change pages with the slightest shift of my thumb, even though it's not supposed to. I don't need another one that costs twice as much as a current gen PW. I'll just get a new PW2.

The PW screen is touch sensitive. It will respond to any touch, no matter how soft or hard that is greater than its initial threshold, which is very, very low. The new 'Page Press' sensors on the Voyage are pressure sensitive and adjustable. They will only respond to pressure that is above the configurable threshold. You should be able to rest your thumb on any part of the sensor for as long as you want without triggering a page turn until you press hard enough to trigger the sensor. At least that is the idea. How well it works in the field, no one yet knows. |
