Just ordered Kindle Voyage 2014

Higher PPI certainly isn't a negative but I read fine with what I have now. My photography books are, and will continue to be, on paper. The light on the Voyage that reacts to ambient light will be interesting but the light on the Paperwhite I works fine for me. Most of my reading is done either in restaurants or in my rocking chair with decent light. The page turning by pressing the bezel will be nice if it works. Sometimes I have to touch the screen two or three times to turn a page and sometimes I give up and use my knuckle. A swipe is more dependable but I tend to touch.

I don't need a Voyage but I've ordered one.

Not for me. I live in Mexico and haven't visited the U.S. in eight years. My Voyage is being delivered to my sister who will read a book on it and make sure it's working properly and then she'll bring it to me when she visits Mexico in February. I am delighted I have my Paperwhite to carry me until then.

That is my concern. I'm afraid that the way that I hold my Kindle will trigger them. If that's the case, I don't think I'll want to keep it just for the rest of the new goodies. I'll probably get a PW2 and wait for the next gen. My PW1 is the worst Kindle I've ever owned, but at least I can use it at night in my bedroom where it will get the least use.

That's my view too. If I keep triggering the page sensors I may well just keep my PW2.

Really you should do some further digging. Josieb1 has had issues and there is one other poster that's had the same issue with multiple problems, but aside from that there has been virtually no posts of issues with the H2O and lots of reports of good ones. Compare that to any of the last Kindles or any other device that's come out and I'd say it's a pretty good batting average. Not trying to bash Josieb1 who has obviously had problems, just saying that her experience isn't typical with the H2O.

I'm glad I didn't let 5 pages of posts about the blotchy discolouration of the Kindle PW1 screen posted on this forum stop me from buying one after the PW first came out. It was a perfect travelling companion overseas last year.



But, back on topic...

Anyone else find the lack of reviews a bit unnerving? There's usually at least one or two by now, a week or so before they officially release the Voyage to everyone.

I don't think you are looking hard enough.

All of those are rehashed from the initial press conference or are for the new basic Kindle, as even skimming the link description would have told you. I'm waiting for one from an ereader site... or even GoodEReader. I'd have at least thought that Gizmodo or TechCrunch would've had more than a preview from the event where they announced the Voyage.

Just checked the Nuvango site. No Gelaskins for the Voyage yet.

Of course, that isn't a problem for me yet, because, being in Australia, I cannot even order one yet, but I'm holding my breath. All of my Kindles wear Gelaskins!

Technically the first one wasn't faulty at all, it just didn't suit her preferences. Sounds like the second one was definitely faulty and the 3rd was apparently faulty. There have been very few if any "my new Kobo doesn't turn on" type of faulty complaints.

All of them were faulty, unless of course you believe a yellow screen with a darker bit at the top is normal?
