Well I'm still glad I've ordered. I've returned three faulty Kobo Aura H20's so far so the Voyage looks like the only chance I have for a higher ppi screen this year,

Two had screen issues, the first (number 1) was yellow, with a darker patch along the top of the screen, the other one (number 3) has a light stripe running above Led 4 The one I desperately wanted to keep was number 2 the screen was beautiful, crisp and clear, a slight ivory colour, just lovely, but it couldn't be used with a PC, the internal drive seem corrupted. I got a Format Disc error as soon as I connected it. Even the Kobo desktop couldn't see it. |

At least with the Voyage I know if I don't like it for any reason I won't have to jump through hoops to send it back. I've had refund number 1 from Argos but I won't rest easy until I see the refund for my online order, that was number 2 with an exchange for number 3 so I've only got one refund to look for now.
Once I have the refund I might risk it again but I'd rather try another seller tbh. Maybe I'll have better luck next time. Last edited by Josieb1; 10-14-2014 at 10:42 AM. |

That doesn't speak well for QA at Kobo. Yikes.

I cancelled my Voyage order and then just put it in again to see current shipping dates. Its Nov 28. Then I cancelled again.
When I can get it in 2 days, I'll order again after I first read reviews here. I need to see a decisive improvement over my PW 2013 to buy it. Page turning changes are IRRELEVANT. Plus, I have that auto light feature on my Fire HDX 2013 and turned it off. I always leave the light at the same setting for all ranges of ambient light. I find the text excellent on the PW 2013 and HDX 2013 and I have cataracts and macro degeneration in my very old eyes (over 100). I like new Amazon gadgets but need great features better than old units to actually make a purchase. I may order a Fire TV for my bedroom to get Netflix there instead. |

And your experience is putting me off Kobo as well. I was always looking at it as an option for when I am getting fed up with the fonts situation on my kindles.

What I'm waiting for is reviews if the Voyage - I'm not fully convinced about the light sensor. I've seen enough phones and tablets handle that badly, and want to see how responsive it is. That and maybe a bit of a price drop, as I'm wondering if the haptic feedback bezel is worth the premium over my PW.. I was hoping for more than 4GB storage, given they're selling graphic novels and those take a ton of my 1.8GB as is. |

I agree about the light sensor and that is my concern as well. But I like page turn buttons. So I'm leaving my order intact for now. Having the internal light will be a major step up from my K3... even if I go to the PW2. But I'd really like those page turn buttons! At least I can disable the light sensor on the Voyage if I don't like how it operates and just use a fixed light setting.

It's the screen that interests me the most, especially after seeing the H20's screen as the PPI on the Voyage is higher. Plus it's a bit smaller than the PPW. I don't mind turning off the automatic light sensor but I do hope the page sensors are usable.

But I'm going to wait for reviews for now - returning things in Canada can be a bit of a pain, even if the situation is better than it used to be - they're actually releasing newer models in Canada now unlike the Kindle Touch days when we had to wait 9 months after the US release. If the bezel sensors aren't as reliable as real buttons, that might be a reason to wait for revision 2. That, and I'm hoping the contrast is significantly improved over my PW1. If the storage had been bumped up, it's may have been a day one purchase, even at the $270 for 3g. |
