At least with Kobo you can customise to your hearts content and completely eliminate the wasted space on screen. Looking forward to the screen real estate of my Aura H2O - when WH Smiith finally gets them of course. | |

$200!? No thanks. There isn't anything they could possibly do to e-readers that would make me drop more than $100.

It's a disappointment, from my point of view. 300dpi and higher contrast is great. The new page turn mechanism sounds great. But instead of getting rid of the fragile glass backplane, they've actually added more glass in front of the screen. Madness. If only it had no glass in front, and a plastic backplane. Sigh... no new ebook reader for me this year. |

Will paperwhite get software updates to get new features of the new Kindle and Kindle Voyage? Will word wise work with "non-amazon books"?

Historically, Amazon have been pretty good at migrating new firmware features to older models, so the odds are very good that any new features in the Voyage will eventually make their way to the PW range.

As to the Voyage, the magnesium case mentioned in the Engaget review as well as the etched glass, added sensors, etc are all fancy fit-n-finish touches typical of high end Premium products. It is neither an entry-level reader nor a value reader; the Touch2 and PW2 already serve those buyers. Voyage is really meant for the serious Kindle fan who would never consider anything else and who will eagerly pay a $50 premium for what is literally The Best Kindle Money Can Buy. The only thing missing is the user's name laser etched on the back. It is not for everybody, which is half the point of it right there. Some folks like to pamper themselves and $50 isn't that much of a premium. They'll make great gifts, too. Remember, Amazon sells diamonds and gallery art as well as disposable diapers. They'll take money from anybody, poor or rich. Last edited by fjtorres; 09-19-2014 at 07:22 AM. |

			I'm pretty sure it's more than a $50 premium.

I don't understand why the Kindle Voyage is available for pre-order on Amazon's US, UK and German sites, but not on the French one... All I can find at amazon.fr is the €59 basic model. |

Agreed, however I'm skipping the upgrade from my PW2 for the time being... I could easily afford the voyage but the price is just as that level where I start to think "do I really want it that much" instead of "it's cheap enough, I'll just get it"
