500 plus paged books

Hi i'm looking for chunky books that are more than 500 pages. Please recommend me some. Preferably written after the 18th century. Thanks.

I'd say The Count of Monte Cristo and War and Peace are possibly well within your page and time requirements.

The Count Of Monte Christo is the more appealing one to me. I'm very wary of difficult and Russian classics. Big thanks.

You're quite welcome. One of the things I like best about ebooks is that a book can be 100 pages long or 1000 pages and they all weigh exactly the same on an e-reader.

That's an advantage that I've naively thought only I have noticed. Great minds etc.

Any genre except for chick lit, horror, romance, or victorian novels.

Do you count series? Some of them are really a single story broken into publishable chunks.

Not series. I don't intend to read series. E.g I know the Lonesome Dove got the Pulitzer prize but I've heard the sequels are not that good.

Alright. I recommend these in fantasy genre then:

The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie
The Night Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko
American Gods by Neil Gaiman
Perdido Street Station by China Miéville
A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

I think most fantasy trilogies are manageable. When it goes over 5-6 books in series even I have problems finishing those.
Out of the ones I linked the first series is a trilogy.

I wouldn't dismiss War and Peace. It's really good. It's not all that difficult. I'm particularly fond of the lasted translation in 2008, which is not a freebie. The author goes to great detail to footnote various events and people to relate them to the historical accuracy and times in Russia. It's a fascinating read.

There are many characters, but only really about 20-30 fictional characters that are main. The rest are tangential, and the majority are actual historical people.

"The Count of Monte Cristo" is a Victorian novel. What do you have against them? There was some wonderful literature written during the reign of Queen Victoria.

Your intentions are good, but it'll take me some time to read easier classics, then get to W&P. I don't want to try and then bodily reject it when I'm not ready.
