Thanks for reporting this. I hadn't been into my Settings for a long time and didn't know about the "maturity" setting. Like you, I like to look at whatever's come in new in the past week and would like to be able to skip children's books.

*sigh* My holds all had auto-checkout set to "off". And this morning I discovered that some of them had been turned on. Not a big deal, as I download books immediately anyway, but still...

I really like the "suspend" feature. Very handy when you've just had a bunch of holds come in and a few more that are showing "1 out of 1 patrons" that could come in at any moment. Also handy when I want to put holds on a series and stagger them based on how many people are ahead of me for each. Increases the odds of getting them somewhat in order but without me having to manage them manually.

If you click on Options > Suspend Hold, it will give you several choices, ranging from 7 to 90 days. After the selected time is up, it will reactivate the hold, giving you the next available hold slot. At any time, you can also cancel the suspension and reactivate your hold immediately.

So this is the same as cancelling your hold and then requesting a hold again? It just saves clicks? Not that saving clicks is bad.

I don't think it works like this Purple Lady. In your scenario, you would lose your place in line and go to the back when you reinstate the Hold. If you Suspend the Hold, you don't lose your place and will come out at the same place you were when the Hold was Suspened.

At least that's what it did for me.

I assumed the purpose of On-Hold was that you moved UP in line, like all other libraries work...

Could it be the ones "turned on" were books you've put on hold since that feature was turned on? For new holds, the default is "on" with a checkbox to turn it off. I had to go in and change all my current holds to "on", but once that was done, anything new has automatically been on auto-checkout.

Another thing I noticed: I've "recommended" two books since this function was added. As part of the recommendation, you ask to have the book put on your Holds list. For those, it goes to Holds, but does not go on as auto-checkout. Not sure why.

I might suspend one that was nearly fulfilled if I was going on vacation and not having access to download the book. As it is I am experimenting with the Overdrive app--I can get the Kindle books to download but not the epubs. I think I may have forgotten my Adobe ID password come to think of it. But I'm not sure I'm going to have wifi at my vacation destination this time.

That could very well be it. I wasn't really paying attention to which ones were on hold before and after.
