@Canis Lupus: You mentioned being in Canada, so you'll probably have to contact Kindle CS (IIRC, the toggle is only available on US accounts).

Thank you, everyone! I contacted Amazon CS through email (I'll call them if I don't get a response within a few days). A question though...will they be able to 'tell' that I've jailbroken my Kindle? And, if so, would I get in some sort of trouble?

Only if you sent it in (to be replaced) and even then, no one who has jailbroken and subsequently sent in their Kindle under warranty has ever reported Amazon finding out. It is assumed they simply don't care/not worth their time to check.

I was having a problem trying to jailbreak my Kindle Paperwhite 1st gen with 5.4.4.2 on it.
Finally realized that when you said to eject the Kindle it did not mean to eject & power down the device. Sigh...So now I got the "Jailbreak" ms and am off to the next adventure |

telnet does not require a password
but your USBnet install probably needs to be re-installed. You probably just installed a "complete" system image file. Which will disable everything except the device jailbreak. It would not hurt to start over, by installing the most recent device jailbreak package. |

SSH over USB either (in its 'default' state)
![]() And yeah, 5.3.7.1 is a complete update, wipes everything. Haven't actually bothered to check what the default password looks like, since the account is locked anyway, so, pffft. EDIT: Duh. Answer's in the question. No password at all, account locked ![]() Last edited by NiLuJe; 06-23-2014 at 03:42 PM. |

I just installed 5.7.3.1 and was ready to start over again.
Anyway, I removed old usbnet (v0.9) and installed last available one. Reinstalled kindlet jailbreak also. Nonetheless, I can't SSH! I use winscp in windows xp (just like before) but can't access using saved profiles. Keeps asking me a password both with usb and wifi! Last time I solved resetting the password using usbnet over usb! |

@silver18: You might have a weird config. Provided you don't have anything of value in there, remove the usbnet folder, and reinstall USBNet.
To be clear: since 5.3.x, if you are not using dropbear over USB *only* (default config), you will be thrown out by an endless loop of failed login attempts (because the account is locked). You'll have to set up shared keys auth (best), or get in once over USB/telnet and unlock the account (by setting a custom password). If you switch the SSHD to OpenSSH, you will need a valid auth method. If you enable SSH over WiFi, you will need a valid auth method. There are *no* default passwords anymore. EDIT: That also implies running a decently recent USBNet version ![]() Last edited by NiLuJe; 06-23-2014 at 04:11 PM. |

Anyway I solved using Kterm, mounting rw and resetting password with passwd! Everything works fine again (and also Komic does...)! Thanks to all! |

Hi everyone,
thanks to developers for this thread. My PW2 (Wifi only) has a SN starting with 9017. I bought it on the french store and got it shipped to France. It tried to JB it but the update button stays grayed out. Any chance to have it JB one day? Thanks a lot! |
