I don't understand why PTSD should be an issue affecting either surgery. Or are you saying that this is someone who denies the reality of PTSD altogether?

Or that the surgery could lead to PTSD?

IAC, I hope all goes well.

It seems to be One Of Those Days.

First the chain of my bike comes off halfway to the supermarket, so I had to walk back home. The quickest way is through the pedestrian area, where I got stopped by police officers handing out tickets to cyclists. Despite the fact that I wasn't cycling and told them I wouldn't be able to I get a telling off because I probably would have done so if my chain wasn't off (I wouldn't since cyclists in the pedestrian area is one of my biggest pet peeves).

Back home I put my bike in the store (more space to work) and take off the chain cover as far as possible. I only can't get the chain back on because I can't lift the back wheel, turn the pedals, stop the bike from falling and hold the bottom chain cover in place (otherwise it snags on the turning chain) all at the same time, I tried several times. Meanwhile, customers are knocking on the window because they think since I'm in the store I should help them and Lexie is screaming at the top of the stairs because she's all alone.

I gave up on my bike and I'm now waiting for my parents to return from their errands so hopefully my father is willing to help me (chances are he thinks I should be able to solve the problem myself).

If he does, have him contact me. I'll be happy to describe the 15 years of screaming nightmares I had every night after I got back from the Nam, until the VA put me back together...

I'm not one to give up so with the help of a bit of string to keep the bottom cover in place I managed to get the chain back on. My father helped to tighten the chain. However, now the gear is off again and somewhere the pedal is rubbing up against the chain cover and we can't find how solve that. So tomorrow morning I'm off again to the bike repair shop.

There should be a simpler and easier way to get the chain back on and tighten it again without having to go to the repair shop.

Well, the Act of Sale was a bit rocky and the seller was a punk but it went through.

The real rant is that my wallet got stolen. By well-dressed, middle-aged guys. In a restaurant full of tourists. Ugh.

Fantastic news on getting your house!

So sorry about your wallet being stolen. I just can't understand people that do those sort of things.

Congrats on the house.

Once I was walking in the financial district in Vancouver and was bending over to pick up a $20 from the sidewalk and a well dressed guy with a briefcase knocked me over and grabbed it and ran off down the street.

Much worse to lose your wallet. Maybe offer a reward at the restaurant for information leading to. Could go there more than once and chances are that if they do they are not well liked. Trying to do something can make one feel less victimized. My sympathies.

I might be a good time to cancel all the credit cards you were carrying before the crooks decide to use them.

Ahh but then they would be telling you that you would understand when you grew up (I'm still waiting at 63) or some other condescending nonsense.

For what it is worth I know, probably because of my age, a lot of people who have had knee or hip surgery, and so far all are happy with the results. Hopefully the hardest part is the waiting.

Hey! Chill out! You got to where you are today because you were able to successfully handle everything that was thrown at you. This isn't going to be any different. You WILL handle it, and you WILL handle it well. You know that. I know that.

Yeah -- what he said!!

Maybe that doctor should be sent to Afghanistan (or wherever the biggest fighting is now) for 2 or 3 years before he makes any calls about PTSD. Or now, because he HAS made a judgement about something he knows nothing about.

Yeah, the oral can take a bit. And I so am looking forward to your getting a good result with the knee. You have all my very best wishes on this one.

As for the idiot? What can one say. There were those who thought the soldiers with "shell-shock" after WWI should "just buck up and get on with it". We know better, but trying to convince those who are deliberately ignorant is hopeless.
