A semi-related question is there a way to say add an extra tag only if it detects the other tags are in use.

For example, some authors use Captain America (Movies) but they don't add Marvel Cinematic Universe tag to their story, as a result my Marvel tag cannot be applied to the story until I edit the meta data. I'd like to add the Marvel tag to only the marvel fandoms. I can't just add Marvel to my extratags because I'm downloading fic in other fandoms.

You can use the same test in the replace_metadata more than once. You could try something like:

replace_metadata:

The thing that I fell is missing for this is being able to supply more that one tag. There have been a couple of times where what I really wanted was to split the found tag into two. The solution was to put two lines in, but it does mean I have two copies of the same match string to maintain if things change.

I tried both options and neither worked. I think what I have now is a good step forward and I can manually add the "Marvel" tag to the stories that don't already have one if need be.

Where is your text "Lord of the Rings" coming from? The cover name makes sense but I'm not sure what the source is for the middle value aka "Lord of the Rings."

In FF.net ... the Category is the fandom, so my category/fandom is Lord of the Rings, which means if that is the name of the category, when the plugin uses the LOTR cover ... I don't know if the technical terms are correct.

I figured out what was missing. I had to go to the tab for "Generate Cover" in the FFDL settings and select the box "Allow generate_cover_settings from personal.ini to override."

Thank you for your help. Seeing your settings that fit with what I had helped me realize the problem wasn't my settings in the personal.ini area.

Do you have a couple of example links I can try? The times I have tried this are with genre and category rather than fandom. I assumed they would be the same, but maybe they aren't.

Sorry for stepping in, but I just had an idea.

Maybe you should switch the oder of the two lines using the same search value.

I think the problem is that the first line changes the value and the second then can't find it anymore.

davidfor's trick doesn't work for me either. I checked the code and unfortunately found no easy way to do a conditional (extra-)include. We might have to wait until JimmXinu is around, he should know more.
