I go back and forth on using the (overdrive) library. I usually run into the problem where a book isn't available when I want to read it, then when I get my turn I'm not really in the mood for it. I definitely understand where you are coming from with that!

I'm also hesitant because I have such a backlog of reading material that I promised myself I wouldn't buy another book until I finished any one book first.
Although, it seems silly to pass up a really good deal for a series I like for that reason.

Yup, I get that problem too! And when I have a bunch on hold, they usually all come in at once! Or they have only 1 copy of a book and it takes forever. So I just read my own books mostly. I buy too many, but oh well, I won't ever be without a new book to read. And I mostly buy books on sale or with coupons and get freebies, etc... Of course, some, like the Star Treks, I have to buy at full price, but it's usually worth it.

I did end up getting them, but as I said above - it was a bit silly to not get them during a one day sale when I more than likely would have bought them anyway.

I think I just have way too many books now to really use the library properly anymore.
I've been going through a bit of a reading dry spell (thus the promise to buy no more books until I finish reading just one) so that makes it a bit more difficult.

Help. The latest (and last) in the Paksennarion Paladin's Legacy series by Elizabeth Moon is out. I was going to just get the Audible version, since I have a couple of credits available. But the reviews for the reader of this one are simply awful. And consistently so. I really shouldn't be spending $11 for a book right now...

You could wait for the next Kobo competition and get it with a good discount from Kobo. That's probably what I'm going to do.

Seconding. Especially since it's the end of the month, the next contest should be coming up pretty soon.

Hmmm..... the book is now available, but it seems that it's not couponable at the UK Kobo store!

I'm still going to wait until June, but it looks like I'll actually have to pay full price for this one!

I've only bought 2 ebooks in May. Almost unprecedented. Well, pretty heavily precedented before 2009, but you know what I mean.

Also not entirely true, since I also replaced a paperback, but still fairly exceptional.

Sadly I also bought 9 second-hand paperbacks, but since 8 of them were by Agatha Christie and I now have just one single Christie book left to acquire, that's not really likely to happen again.

You know, the best way not to buy ebooks is to STAY OFF THE COMPUTER! I'm just pointing that out since it's so obvious (and that is my problem as well).

Due to surgery next week, I'm pretty much off the computer for at least a week, so I'm going to do a test. It is my belief that if I stick to my Itouch and just use the apps (such as goodreads), that I will be able to significantly resist buying more ebooks/audiobooks.

Of course, before that, I have to get around to listing my May buys from KoboUK that I bought. Have to check the credit card statement to find out how much I spent.

My Lightspeed Magazine subscription through the "Women Destroy Science Fiction" kickstarter has turned out to by even better value that I'd thought. As well as the 48 back issues, 12 issue subscription, and three special issues (Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror), it turns out I also have store credits for three horror magazines and twelve Fantasy magazines.

So the special issues are costing me $1.66 each. And the other issues only $0.54 each. And I have another 15 items on my TBR, of course.

I bought 9 Amazon books today (likely to be 11 shortly) and 2 Kobo books. Most had been in my various wishlists for a very long time and all were discounted. One was a opportunistic purchase from the Kindle Daily Deal. I used a 50% and 40% discount codes with the Kobo books.

I'm tempted to put some of the Lightspeed mags on my Mom's kindle. However, the last 3 books Scifi books I recommended to her, she hated (didn't even finish), so, i'm a little puzzled whether she would like the mag or not. She seems to like the detective stories I have bought, so she's not completely without good choices.

There is one Lightspeed Mag in ereader stores. It is a full editions (Aug 2012)- you might try out that one and see if she is interested in more.

Here: http://www.amazon.com/Lightspeed-Mag...dp/B008R53VPG/
----------------------

Last month I did pretty well.
I did buy 10 books, but 4 were wishlists with 75% coupons (a series I'm collecting)
The other 6 were deals, but I know I will read - And these were paid from a gift card I received for Mother's Day so "technically" free as well.

-----------

Current temptations:

A few sales that look good. (All $1.99)
From Here to Eternity (The fully restored version)
2 books by Joe Hill (Don't recall the names. One is Horn or Horns, the other is some sort of odd license plate like title.)
