That factory image is a complete factory image -
No need to use the "reset", it installed already as "factory reset" as it gets.

If you do use the "reset to factory defaults" - that **will** mess up things even more than the installation of the new image did.

(Now if the button was labeled "reset to MobileRead defaults" ....

)

And, it overwrote at least parts of everything that you have added already (except for the device jailbreak) -

Yes - you have to re-install everything (except the device jailbreak - but it would not hurt to re-install it also).

You might consider installing our "Backdoor Lock" - so that you can control the OTA updates in the future.

I didn't really understand what you said. I want to make my device as "vanilla" as possible. And start from scratch.

BTW a mobileread factory image would get rid of half the posts on this forum and would be very convenient most users.

You just did by installing the "factory image" file (that "Update" file).

With one exception in two places -
The information in the two user areas -
One viewable over the USB connection, and one not visible over USB connection (/var/local of the internal file system tree).

You are ready to "start over" now.

I am puzzled with JBP 3.6 forum, but I dont know if it helps?

Sorry to bother folks but I have a new PW2 with 5.4.3.2

I trieds to install jailbreak and MMK as I want to add the Kindle Collection but something is not working as when I open the plugin I get a message that the "device not registered under Developer" or something similar.

Can you help me?

I have an error 007 after the update but I do not see the JAILBREA string after.

As usual I copy the Update_jailbreak_bridge_1.10.N_install.bin in the PW root.

As you wrote me the issue is the JailBreak.

What am I doing wrong? I followed the instructions but it does not jb it

@mfsav2: Check the FAQ in the first thread. Most likely you forgot to unpack the right archive in the right place.

I feel totally dummy.
I miss read this: Unzip the *contents* of the *kindle-5.4-jailbreak.zip* archive to the root directory of your Kindle.

and put just the Update..bin

I have used the jailbreak on my PW1 with firmware 5.4.4.2 and got the *****Jailbreak****** message. However, when I try to run Kual, I get the message "This device is not authorized as a test Kindle by the developer of this item. Please contact the developer." Anyone know why this is happening? Do I need to downgrade to an earlier firmware version?
