I have an ebook that has been converted by calibre into EPUB format. I THINK that I need to do some editing in it because I have several JPG files that do not show up.
First, let me say that I tried to follow the other discussions, but could not ![]() I tried to FIND the spell checker (I am using calibre 1.38), but did not I tried to look for the dictionary but could not find that either. Prior to this recent problem, I was able to get into the editor function. Thank you, in advance for your support. -Michael |

Tools, Check Spelling
Edit, Preferences, Manage Spelling Dictionaries. You can access the editor function in Windows directly making a shortcut to "C:\Program Files\Calibre2\ebook-edit.exe". On the main list of books in the main calibre screen, right click then select edit book. |

Yea, I found it. I will now go follow those other threads dealing with the editor, and hope to resolve this soon.
Thank you for your quick reply. (Regarding your short cut: "thanks", but I have a mac |

I'll have to let someone else try. Sometimes there are issues related just to the Mac. It is working fine in the Windows version.
AS I understand it, he starts out with the same basic code but then compiles them for the different operating systems. |

![]() Or use a shortcut to "/Applications/calibre.app/Contents/MacOS/ebook-edit" / use "ebook-edit" after this: Quote:

OK. Let me run with this and see if I can create an independent tool. It may just get the calibre editor to work for me
Thank you |

OK. I opened up the automator application but did not understand how to use it to open the editor: the instructions that were given need to be broken down more for me.
If there was a youtube video of creating an automator function to run the calibre editor independently, that would be helpful. I have not found any. I did check on youtube videos on how to use automator, but could find no easy parallels to how to apply that to my current situation. Again, thanks for your help... and to think that I ONCE thought that writing my book would be the more difficult challenge ![]() |

This post has a screenshot.
As I am not a Mac person, I'm not a very good source of authority, but I think Automator is just a way of running drag-and-drop scripts. Pop the code you were given into the text box to create the automator app. Then double-click it to open the editor or drag any number of EPUB/AZW3 files onto it to open them in separate Editor instances. (I thought I had already posted this, but I don't see it, so I am posting it again)
So...I am making my way around automator and think that I got to the place where I can drop code, namely in the "run AppleScript" action tab. Well, I placed the code and ran it. The only result was the it told me that the 'workflow completed'. (Don't know what that means, but the calibre editor did not open, as I thought it would). Here is the code that I inserted: on open filelist repeat with i in filelist do shell script "ebook-edit " & quoted form of POSIX path of i end repeat end open So...what might my next step be? Thanks, in advance. |

This won't work until you install the command-line tools for calibre.
