Has anyone read the Whiskey Creek series by Brenda Novak?

I finished the whole series Tuesday and I hated book #6. Loved all the others but the last one just did not seem to flow like the others.

So tell them you're not a Kindle reader? I've never had this pop-up from them, or if I have it was so long ago I've forgotten. But if it's Kindle-specific, I would expect it to stop if you tell them you don't have a Kindle.

I have no idea which author the comment was made about but if I had to guess it would be Sarah Daltry. NBD to me, but as an aside, I tried to read 2 of her books and they were both pretty poorly written IMO so no big loss to me, BUT, I just find it sad no matter how good or bad an author is that they are subjected to such a magnitude of bullying that they decide to quit. I don't want to open a can of worms or anything, I just have strong feelings about bullying in general. Like I've tried to teach my kids and I try to govern myself, be respectful if you have to answer negatively towards something. I wish people would remember that in regards to online comments also.

The flip side of that is, "I wish people would remember that people on the internet are complete jerks". If they're not, they act like it a lot more often online, because they can get away with things that they'd be punched in the face for if they did it to someone in person.

Now granted I don't know what exactly was done or said ("bullying" is a very broad and vague term), but one of the most obvious things about online comments that no one ever seems to remember is, they can be deleted. They are also very easy to ignore. All you have to do is not actively click on the link that lets you read them.

Practically every single eBook I own has a section that tells me how to reach the author via social media, and how very much he or she wants to hear from me. That's an open invitation to spamming and flaming for certain types of people out there, and any author who posts her Twitter or Facebook for everyone in the world to see needs to be aware of that when he or she makes the decision to share that contact info.

Personally, if I was doing something like that, I'd hire a person to check all those accounts for me and to act as buffer, and that's despite the fact that I'm not easily offended by things people say to me online. If I was, having someone else filter out non-constructive comments would be even more important.

TLDR:
If you know it's going to bother you that to read what what people say about you online, don't read it.

In the the comments section of the article someone linked to this article that suggests SD was using this as a marketing ploy.

My computer died. Which means my windows died, which means my ADE died. I think that was last one I had. I'm assuming there isn't any way to at least save ADE?

Sorry about your computer. Was it hard drive failure?

You can install ADE on another PC and log into your Adobe account. One good thing about ADE is the it's account specific not PC specific like Kindle 4 PC. Any Library books though will need to be redownloaded but your purchase books can be simple dragged into ADE with internet on and it should pull the license.

No, it was motherboard. The drive is in my new pc, but I can't boot windows, and I think I exceded ADE activation limit.I have to ask adobe to reset it if that's the case, right?

Yes just open a ticket with them and they should add more activations.

Sorry about your computer. I've had to do get Adobe to up the activation limits (my first Kobo had to be factory reset constantly!), it's not nearly as bad as it sounds! I used live chat and it was done right away.

I was very happy to get this for such a good price, with my settlement credit to boot! I got an additional check in the mail for $4.87 from the settlement--maybe from Kobo purchases that I've made. It doesn't specify which ebookstore it's from.

This last Kobo contest I've gotten more 65 and 75% codes than usual, just entering with 4 email addresses as usual. I'm not sure why because people are saying the codes aren't as good this time around. Must just be the luck of the draw!
DH and I are regretting that we got the Kindle Fire HDX now to replace the Nexus tablet. We've had it for 4 months so it's too late to return. Our ds can't play one of his favorite games, Clash of Clans because it's not in the Amazon Appstore. Though we've found a way to sideload the app, every time it updates we have to reload it and ds has to start the game from scratch. So we're planning to get the next 10" Nexus tablet to replace the Kindle Fire in the spring (though I actually find the 7" a lot easier to use!).
