Partial black screen on synching
This morning I tried to sync my Kobo glo and that has resulted in it becoming unresponsive and showing partial black screen above the synching box. Connected it to PC to see if it would charge, but no charging light comes on.
Update: Reset fixed it Seems I panicked too soon. A normal paperclip reset has fixed the problem. Glo rebooted and the sync completed. Is it normal that it automatically downloads all the newly purchased books since the last sync? With the initial sync it only downloaded the last 5. One thing I noticed is that the wireless connection doesn't get automatically re-enabled if you press the wifi icon on the home screen. It shows the wireless is enabled, but does not show the wifi icon. To get the wifi to work you need to go into settings, Connect to network. It then searches for a network and connects to the known network correctly. Last edited by Crusader; 12-27-2013 at 02:20 AM. |

Sorry, didn't think of taking a photo before trying to reset (which thankfully worked). It was basically a black rectangular that stretched from above the sync panel on the home screen to the top and about halfway across the screen width.

The WiFi icon has three states that I have seen. When the device is connected, it shows the WiFi icon (which I can't describe). When WiFi it is disabled, it shows the outline of the icon. If there isn't anything there, it means that WiFi is enabled, but is not currently connected. This could mean it has never been connected, or it could mean it was connected earlier, but has gone to sleep waiting for the next time something happens that needs the WiFi.
Once WiFi is enabled, the first time you do something that needs the WIFi, the device will search for a known WiFi service. If there is one, it uses it. If there isn't one, it will prompt you with the list of available services for you to select and configure. After that, it will remember this and attempt to use it if it is visible.
