Touch screens are definitely worth the money. Especially if you ever read older books and there are words that are no longer in common use that you want to look up in the dictionary. It's much easier to just touch the screen than move the up and down buttons or whatever.

I thought I wouldn't like e-readers because I thought I was a tactile reader, but then I got one as a gift and I found it much easier to read because I could change the font and font size, and I won't go back.

I hope you have a good reading experience! I'm not one to have a strong preference of one brand over another - I think the specifics matter (touch screen/back lit/etc.) but the brand doesn't. I'm sure the Sony is fine.

+1.
I also think that the T3 is just too expensive, not bad per se but overpriced as hell.
At least in the European market there are far better devices for less money.
And yes I owned a T1 and I have handled a lot of times the T2s/T3s.

I've already purchased the T3 and provided ample justification for the financial and ergonomic reasons behind my purchase.

I agree about touch screens....all my devices have them. I will no longer consider a device without one. My Kobo Mini has a touch screen, even! That is one of the many reasons it is better than the kindle basic.

I thought about this question myself, in the end I decided to get an iPad 4. You can download books from the AppStore but also get the Kindle App and download from Amazon. Also you get the whole iPad experience.
If you just want to read books the Kindle is a good choice I guess.

Good, but my comment had nothing to do with your original question or your post

It was a +1 for something I agreed.

My apologies -- I assumed you were providing an on-topic response to the thread at hand.

E-ink for reading, in my opinion, is superior. I'm not interested in the "iPad experience" but even if I was, there would be no reason not to have both the iPad and the Kindle (or Nook). You can get one of these ereaders (on sale) for about what a good case costs for an iPad.

Apples and oranges. Both an eInk device and an iPad are great for reading, but reading different things. eInk devices excel for fiction; the iPad (or other large-screen colour tablets) for PDFs, or books which need a large screen and/or colour illustrations). I wouldn't want to be without either.

I guess ultimately it really depends on the user. I love my Nexus 7 for both PDFs and fiction but I can see why some prefer an e-ink device or tablet for one kind of reading experience or for all reading experiences.
