Unfortunately, Kobo provide a very SPARSE changelog; normally along the lines of "Bug Fixes; Addition of Pocket".

Even though I read that 3.1.0 is not meant to be for Touch and Mini, I installed it on my Touch (C model). Actually, I did it twice, once on top of 3.0.1 and once after factory reset. The result was both times the same: the device cannot connect via USB to the pc. Each trial to connect leads to a restart of the reader.

Did you install the full package? For the Touch, or at leas the N905 and N905B, I think you should only install the tgz. The 3.0.0 and 3.0.1 updates only had the tgz. And I installed it that way with no problems on my N905 Touch.

The first time, on top of 3.0.1, I installed the tgz only. The second time, after reset, I installed the whole package.
Now, I am back to 3.0.1, and things are working as expected.

I confirm: my N905C, with 3.1.0 firmware do not connect with th PC. 3.0.1 do it.

Waiting for 3.1.x ?

Not sure if they are similar enough, but my GF isn't having any USB issues with her original Touch N905 as others are reporting; connects to pc/charger just fine with no reboots. To install, I did a hard reset back to stock (power off - home button + power-slider), then dumped the 4th Gen tgz and let it update to 3.1.0 before setting it up. Is the N905c much different?

3.1.0 was pushed to my Aura 6". I also manually updated my Mini and girlfriend's original Touch N905 and the poor formatting appears across the board. It's awful, just awful. I hope it's fixed soon.

Regarding the formatting issues on kepubs reported here https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...16#post2705616. Is it just me, or does everyone else get the idea that Kobo don't actually test anything before releasing it...

Thank you for your comment. Maybe there is not a very big difference between the Kobo Touch models, but in this case it seems decisive.

In line with their current firmware of the week release, Kobo has a new version 3.1.1 firmware available.

For the Aura HD, Glo (not tested on Mini or Touch 905C) Mark 4 hardware:

Just received the pushed update for my Aura 6". Updated my Mini and GF's Original Touch N905 manually with no problems. Used Mark 4, tgz only. Both were coming from 3.1.0. USB connects fine here, Win8, Calibre. No wifi issues.

It's possible that this is a quick fix for the kepub vertical formatting issue. Otherwise, the tile for the 3.1.1 update shows the 2.10.0 what's new.
