Mayday, Mayday

I'm so curious about the KF "Mayday" live chat support. Who has tried it out? Do you get someone perky and good-looking, like in the TV commercials? Because Amazon's customer support is all based in India, I'm wondering if they have hired a special crew of (perky and good-looking) customer support people just for this project.

I know this group is more tech-savvy than the average bear, but if your Fire supports it, why not try it out and tell us about it! I read in an article that the agents are encouraged to give movie recommendations. Why not book recommendations??

Amazon's tech support is certainly NOT all in India. I've had Kindle support people in Ireland, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines, to name but four additional countries. They have service desks all around the world, and shift from one to another as the time of day changes. If (from the UK) I phone in the morning, I'll normally get a support person in Ireland.

Me too! And poor call people, its bad enough having to work in a call center when someone isn't staring at you, imagine being watched all day long!

Thanks for the videos! Yes, it is rather weird that you can see the CSR but the CSR can't see you. And awkward when the CSR has to look up something she doesn't know the answer to-- that's when someone on the phone would put you on hold (but she was quite fast at it, at least).

I've used Mayday a lot and always have gotten Americans so far. They have all been knowledgeable and solved my problems. I like the idea they can take control of my HDX 2013 and point me to the solutions directly.

Yep they are just kids to me. The first boy looked at my HDX and was like your help app is missing. (I had removed it from the home screen). I was like it's under apps.

So he had me... get this write the number to support with a pen and paper.

The second guy was even younger and had no idea what I was asking. I asked how do I search for music and he was like umm let me check and I ask would I click on the magnifying glass? He was like yeah I think so.

So I typed in Jingle Bells and nothing showed up so he told me I don't think you can search for music.

so I was like what about this library option what's that's for he said books. So I clicked it and there was the music results along with the books. (This was before firmware updates)
He was like oh I guess you can search for music.

Both were very American boys.

So Mayday wasn't a good experience for me.

Any time I called CS I Always got some one in the USA! Once I got some guy that had heavy accent. I asked where he was in TX! So I told him I couldn't understand him he said I can fix that he switched me to a coworker. LOL

If you call on the weekend to talk to someone you get India but all Kindle Specialist have been American. When I called to return HDX #3 the guy I got spoke rapid broken English and I couldn't understand what he was trying to say. He transfered me over to a Kindle Specialist and he was American.
