As an ereader the Nook HD is very nice. I love reading on it. I can also use it as a normal tablet but I also have an iPad so it's rare I do anything on it but read. Only thing to remember is that it's hard to read in daylight on a tablet, so if you read out and about in the sun a tablet will be a disappointment.

Don't forget I still have my old ereader for reading outside. Though I'd like to be able to use the tablet outside too.
Also can someone recommend a clip on light for the Nook until I Replace it? |

My christmas wish is for a dual screen tablet. The front would have the regular lcd color screen while the back would have an E-Ink screen. Is that too much to ask for?

We have a Moko case on the HD+, which we love.
We had a similar style (but no name brand) on the HD, and the edge started digging into the housing, causing a separation! So I got my daughter one that completely encloses the tablet, instead. For my HD I have a Poetic, and love it. My other daughter has one, too. It doesn't really work as a stand, IMO, but it is great for a slim cover. (Not that I've actually tried making a stand out of it. I don't want to bend it all up). |

In this way I usually keep screen brightness on iPad 1 under 75% even in the bright sun. I also have homemade cardboard sunshades similar to these but don't use them often because there is no need, but if I do use them together with ultra anti-glare, brightness on iPad 1 can be set even lower at 65% for comfortable reading. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LUXdjowdKo http://www.hoodivision.com Good ultra anti-glare matte protector will make retina iPad 3/4/air screen look more like iPad 1, though. I've always used folio style cases (the kind with the cover that folds back when you open it) on all my e-readers and my 7" tablets, so that's what I bought for my HD+. Based on reviews and price, this is the one I chose: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . It's well-made and I like the color. However, I found that it felt heavy and awkward and really detracted from what was otherwise a fairly light-weight, comfortable to hold device.
My solution was to buy a silicone case and a zippered sleeve. It's much more comfortable to hold and use. These are the ones I chose: 1. Silicone case: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 2. Zippered sleeve: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . This particular sleeve is no longer available from Amazon but there are others that are similar. Last edited by jscarbo; 11-19-2013 at 08:46 AM. |
