I often read on autopilot walking to work. It's a nice wide, safe path I walk down and I get about an hour a day just doing that reading.
Also in bed at night and sometimes in the mornings. Apart from that, like others have said, whenever I have free time pretty much. If I go out, I ALWAYS bring my ereader with me just in case I have to wait for something or just want to stop some like a cafe or whatever for a break and wind down. |

Sounds weird, but it's true. I can also ensure I stay on the correct side of the footpath, so I don't bump into people oncoming. I've been doing that for years. |

I just read what I want to read when I want (barring outside obligations). The point is to take your time and not feel you have to rush yourself. A good book is to be savored not gulped down without chewing.

Unless you prefer gulping to chewing, of course...

Breakfast lunch at dinner. After dinner. While it's cooking. travelling waiting, in bed. out of bed. You know as and when opportunity arises.
Typically reading before getting out of bed is not a productive way of getting to work on time. Reading over lunch is a great way of indicating, not only am I busy, i'm occupied in important stuff and hence can't deal with your query right now. |

You then set your vision so you're looking around the ereader in addition to the text on the ereader. You don't see much in the way of detail beyond the ereader, but any movement you notice right away and any changes to the footpath as well, such as a crossing or something. |

I read in bed at night to get tired so I can sleep, which usually takes about 30 minutes. There have been times when I'm reading something particularly gripping that I've stayed up reading for a few hours tho.... ![]() |

I read in bed, and on the balcony when at home. I am lost without reading material if I am on a long bus ride, or waiting for an appointment.
I don't prime myself for a long reading session because I don't care how long I read. When I am tired of reading or life intrudes I just stop. Could be after 10 minute or after 2 hours. The key to increasing your reading is (my opinion only) to read things you like to read and to have them handy. If you want to read in the bathroom, you must have something to read in the bathroom as you are unlikely to get up and stroll around looking for a book. Same in bed and on the bus ![]() Habit building is perhaps as important. I am in the habit of reading to take my mind of things before I go to sleep. I am in the habit of reading to take my mind of the tedium of waiting in the doctor's office etc. I have had the habit of reading as entertainment since I was 3 and the other habits probably were built on that, but for those that haven't read a lot, I think reading a bit here and a bit there and always having a book you enjoy ready for when the opportunity or the mood strikes is a good approach. The main thing is to actually enjoy what you are reading. Helen |

My favorite place to read is Sylvia Beach Hotel on the Oregon coast.
I can't remember a time when I didn't read before bed. Usually in bed but sometimes the light is a bother (not to me!) so I read elsewhere. That is one of the few daily constants throughout my life (the others being eating, sleeping, and feeding the cats). |
