I prefer a quiet environment when I read but I can pretty much read anywhere/anytime blocking out whatever is around me.
I do most of my reading in bed before sleeps takes over...I know it is time to put down the reader when I've looked at the same page several times and still don't know what I've read.

Most of my reading is actually audiobooks, but when I sit down to read an ebook, knowing I'm going to read for awhile, I let family members know not to bug me. I sit in my comfy chair with a cup of coffee or tea on a warmer, arrange the cat in her little bed within petting distance and turn the Ipod on to classical music. Now that it is winter, I add an afghan. Alas, due to health issues, I can rarely sit more than 45 minutes before getting up to either use the facilities or to walk around a little (neuropathy).

Yes, like many of you, I read or listen on and off nearly daily. Some books are too complex to be read that way. You just need uninterrupted time for them.

edited to add: I have never read in bed. I don't even listen to audiobooks in bed unless I'm there because I'm sick or injured. Even as a kid, I was a comfy chair reader.

He is. Just keep your reader handy and read. I read when I wake, before I sleep, while I eat, in the car wash, standing in line at the grocery store, in a chair, on the sofa, at the movie theater (BEFORE trailers start and lights dim), waiting at the doctor's or dentist's office, pretty much any time I have a chance.

The great thing about the reader is being able to have plenty of books with you wherever you go in a light, easily carried package.

Oh, and I will often snatch reading during commercials while watching TV. Though, as often as not, will end up immersed in the book and forgetting about what I was watching, LOL!

I pick up the closest reading gadget, and start reading. I'll read anywhere, and under almost any circumstances.

I have to say I agree, i had the same conversation with my parents this week i commented that i am much quicker in the bath now that i have an ereader, i would not dare to read in the bath (in the room doing other things is another matter )

i am so clumsy i would drop it in the bath if i was reading there

i try and read whereever i am, i hate the dark uk winter evenings at 5pm as it means i cant walk and read on the way home

But at least i can catch up on iplayer on the way home...

The tub is one of my preferred places to read. I also appreciate business trips - four hours on the train with a first class seat are a beautiful opportunity to do some reading.

Funny you should mention this. My sister suggests using one of those Food Saver things to seal your kindle. Make the bag big enough for several reseals. She would probably do this were it not for all the paperbacks of sci-fi short stories I gave her (after I got the ebook version, of course). She saves those solely for tub reading.

The best way to read a book is when sitting in a recliner chair with a bag of potato chips and some coffee at hand. However, I can read anywhere: in waiting rooms, in the bus, train, or while standing in a railway station when it's freezing. Eventually you can, if you travel enough by public transport.

I read pretty much everywhere, thanks to my smartphone. In line at grocery store, etc. But the majority of my reading is done either in family room while my wife watches tv, and in bed. I usually read with my iPad Air on the couch, and my Kindle PW2 in bed.

Cool, thanks for sharing that!

I really like the Sony E-Reader. Great battery life, easy to upload quotes, light. I haven't found a downside as yet compared to regular books.

I've gotten upset at the doctor's when they finally called me back and I was in a good place in a book. I just wanted to keep reading!
