Now the procedure I think should be something like this:
1.Update to 1.4 (done)
2.Doing the hack again (Because there is no Screensaver folder)
3.doing fontshack...just a joke

I don't know about this method but there is an alternative one here.

I tried this on a black kindle 4 with firmware 4.1.0, and it didn't work, I still have the runme.sh file after restarting twice.

Is there another method without jailbreak? Why does this one not work?

Sorry if I sound stupid, but where on the 214 pages is described how I could get my 4.1.1 Kindle to allow custom screensavers without jailbreaking?

I've uploaded the data.tar.gz file mentioned in this thread and also the RUNME.sh but just the data file disappears. The RUNME never seems to be executed.

Okay… But 2 things I don't understand:

It seems both approaches (jailbreaking and the non-jailbreak screensaver hack) work with mntus.params in the data.tar.gz. Why would the one work, the other not
In both mntus.params I see a case switch for the serial number, if I'm not mistaken. All serial numbers start with "B0". Mine starts with "90" (9023). Is this an issue?

It is, but that's not the only way the script detect the device. IIRC, the fallback is more or less correct on those weird 90** devices, provided it's a K4/K5.

Still no idea where the hell those come from, though.
