So it isn't just that they're selling only the T-2 rather than the T-3 in the US. I'm in the US and they're not interested in selling me an ereader at all.

I'm not getting huffy about it - not worth it - I'm just moving on.
Sony.com (US site) does have the T2 for sale.

They seem to be out of stock on the T3 at Sony.ca though. Perhaps they have limited stock and that is why they are not selling the T3 in the US. Does not look good for that Christmas sale I was hoping for

Yes, it does. The site has been showing that the red T2 is out of stock for quite some time. It's currently showing that the white T2 is discontinued. But the black one is still available.

I see that. When I checked last week, both the red and black T-2s were listed as sold out.

From a customer service POV, I find myself wondering why I stuck with them this long. When I bought my first reader in '07, though, Kindle's success was yet to be and Sony was long-established.

They could introduce a new device that blows all existing ones away, but I would be surprised.

I do think that if Sony doesn't up their game, they may as well drop out.

The only large retailer I can find selling the T3 in Canada and/or the lighted cover is Future Shop and that seems to come and go. They weren't displaying them in the stores last week and had no stock at the store I went to. (Park Royal West Vancouver) No Stock for Kobo Auras or minis either.

As well Staples has no stock on T3, or Kobo Aura or Aura HD. Walmart has no stock on either although they did have a Kobo mini which Future Shop and Staples didn't.

Quite a different picture from last year when most products were available at all stores.

I may have to go and buy a T3 + lighted cover tomorrow. It's not that I don't want one, and I can always take it back. I was hoping for a sale though.

And when I click on Readers for the US shop, I get " Oops - Looks like we've run in to technical issues or the page you are looking for can not be found.
Sorry for that."

Sigh....

Works for me. But then, I don't want to buy a T2.

Best Buy seems to have them. I haven't checked stores, but certainly online.

Consider doing a good deed for a Sony user in the US. There are some on the Sony forum who want T-3s and could use a Canadian friend.

There are services that will do it but a tad expensive IMO. A person could order one (Future Shop takes PayPal) and have it shipped to a Canadian, who could forward it pretty cheaply. But there is a trust issue there unless you know the person.

If you don't know the person could be nerve wracking.
Order Sony
Sony is received
Receiver forwards Sony (probably postage collect if possible)
Sony must go through customs, probably no duty, but can take a while.
I see a bit of hand wringing going on.

Looks like my Kindle has been stolen en route to me, so I'm in for a bit of that anyway. Well, I was until I removed payment options from my Amazon account.

A couple of purchases have happened - not mine - so it looks like I'll be putting Amazon's renowned customer service to the test.

I could end up staying with Sony after all.

Eek. How did that happen? You should contact your Credit card company as well, just in case.

Thanks, Helen. A few phone calls later, it seems the issue is resolved.

Still hoping for an eventual revival of the Sony reader in the US.
