Depends on the store really. AFAIK Amazon UK doesn't charge, but I could be wrong.

I'm in The Netherlands so have no idea if it will still be free to return? And if it will be a big hassle. That's the only reason I am considering canceling it, otherwise i would let it go through to see what I get.

Yes, it'll still be free for you to return it. Just print the return label, stick it on the box the Kindle came in, and drop it off at the Post Office. No hassle. No cost.

From the Amazon PW2 webpage: IMPROVED – Enjoy even better contrast on the latest Kindle Paperwhite. Whites are whiter and blacks are blacker, creating sharp, clear text

Ha! The whites were definitely not whiter on my PW2.

I've cancelled my order now anyway, but if I did get one I wanted to return as I didn't like the screen i'd simply mark it as faulty when I selected the reason for return. That way Amazon pay the return postage

They took back my 3rd PW1 last year without charging me a return shipping fee. But like others have stated, that is because I told them the screen was bad and I didn't want to get any more replacements. The key is to make sure they know the screen is bad, or that it has some kind of defect. If you forget to tell them that they will charge you for the return shipping.

You can always chat online to someone and make sure. But from Belgium it goes back to USA, and not by post office, which is not as handy as for people who have Amazon in their countries, UK, Spain etc. If I tried to bring Amazon label on package here to Belgian post office and demand free sending they'd call a doctor.

Or buy one at Waterstones (there is one in Amsterdam so I hear) but that's extra 20€ or so. I am going to have a first hand experience soon at Waterstones in Brussels
