I do not have a tablet, thus the poll does not apply to me. (edit: I did not see the fine print on the last option.) I will probably not be buying a Kindle Fire HDX as I am interested in a tablet with a larger screen size. This is also why I have not purchased other tablets. I did purchase a Sony Vaio Tap 20. A Windows 8 software issue, and lack of support from all of the companies involved killed it for me so I returned it. I would purchase a tablet or e-reader with a screen the size of piece of paper (letter or a4).

I have the previous gen 8.9" KF and have no real interest in upgrading to the new one as it still meets my needs for it and I have no interest in the spec increases.
I got mine last year as a replacement for my ipad1 because I wanted something that was a better option for comics and magazines than a 7" tablet and did not want another ipad. If there had been another option in that size range that was a normal android tablet I would have rather got it instead of my KF even if it cost a little more for the same spec, the extra hassle just to get all the apps you want simply isn't worth it. |

I'm actually thinking about getting one. This is the first tablet I have seen that lets you download movies/TV shows at home where I have wifi access and then watch them at the gym where I don't have wifi access. This is a feature I really, really would like to have. And it might be the only purpose for which I would use the device. I do wish these Kindle Fires had Bluetooth, as I like to use a wireless headphone when I am on the treadmill. I tangled my fingers in the headphone wires too many times and sent my phone crashing to the floor before I got a wireless headset.
What I really hope happens is that before these devices hit the street, someone will announce an alternate solution that will allow me to do this with my phone or some other device with Bluetooth. Duane |

I like this too. It might finally get me to switch from Netflix to Prime.

I never own a tablet but if I am going to buy one, it wouldn't be a KF. It would be a Windows 8 tablet. I don't like being shackled to a particular company for its content. Better buy a Windows tablet where I can install any software I want, not just the one sold by the device manufacturer and I don't like being told what I can do and can't do with my device.

Thanks for the info about Bluetooth. You're right. I went back to their webpage and the info was listed way down at the bottom. I guess I expected they would have mentioned it further up since I think a lot of people would want to use wireless headphones.
Since it is also works with a Bluetooth keyboard, does the Amazon store have a decent word processor app that is compatible with Microsoft Word? Thanks, Duane |

http://www.kingsoftstore.com/ OfficeSuite Pro is $15 but has been offered a number of times as Amazon's free app of the day. There are others, but these two are probably the best options. |

As a 1st gen Fire Owner, Not for me. . .

The Fire isn't a productivity device, it is designed ONLY for consumption of Amazon sold content, it is not designed to help you improve the quality of your life. Also, the native Amazon internet browser sucks. And the carousel is proof that Jeff Bezos hates us and wants us to fail. |

This is horse pucky. It would be horse pucky even if you had not put the word ONLY in caps. I could write a book about all the amazing things you can do with a lowly Fire. And the current and next gen units are more flexible and capable. My kid's HD has a BT keyboard which makes typing very comfortable. We use Kingsoft's suite on both the fire and some of our computers. The G1 Fire has a wifi tool that has proven indispensable in resolving WiFi problems in my home and, in fact, helped me position my WiFi router. I have a huge library of docs and books on my Fire -- this is really easy using Amazon's FREE (see what I did there?) Send To Kindle app. I play videos off a Wi-Drive where there is no WiFi. I like Pulse and my wife frequents all the local media apps. We don't yet have a Prime account and have disabled purchases on the Fires except via the browser. |
