In all reality this means your fingerprint is far more secure in the phone than pretty much any other place it may reside. But if you're still worried, tubemonkey appears to have a solution. ![]() Last edited by pl001; 09-18-2013 at 02:58 PM. |

You certainly can put me on your ignore list if you want. I promise it won't hurt my feelings. In the meantime, I will continue to express my opinion. You are insisting that fingerprint unlocking is not a desirable feature because it still requires a password. My opinion is that if that password is too much to handle, you probably shouldn't have a smartphone in the first place since typically so much private and sensitive data is stored on smartphones. Looking back through your posts it appears I did get you mixed up with another conversation where somebody was complaining about not being able to remember the password. Sorry about that. Once Apple has licensed this fingerprint sensor for use in other devices there will be a number of possible attack vectors which, sadly, will probably make my concerns seem rather tame. |

As to holymadness' reasoning, which is that the people who chose not to use a passcode with previous iPhone generations must have done so because they didn't want to use a passcode every time, and this is different because they will only have to use the passcode after every reboot, anytime the phone wasn't unlocked for 48 hours, when using gloves, when the fingers are wet, when the fingerprint was misread 5 times as the scanner is designed to function. I disagree. |

Since some people in this thread are more concerned w/ putting others down than having a discussion, we'll just have to wait and see what the fallout is from things such as:

So just to get this back on topic a little instead of this tinfoil nonsense.
I am holding in my hot little hand a Silver Iphone 5s and it's beautiful ![]() ![]() I logged 3 fingers into the scanner if I don't use one of those 3 it comes up Try again, try again, then on the third try it brings up the passcode keypad. If however I do use one of the correct fingers it opens in a blink of an eye it is seriously fast #loveit. I haven't had much chance to play further as I'm at work. |
