Kindle for PC archive

My first post here, let me try to be concise.

1) Bought a book on Amazon, routed it to my Kindle for PC.
2) Read the book on my Kindle for PC.
3) Wished I had never seen the book, and would rather nobody ever knew I had.
4) Removed from device on Kindle for PC.
4) Went to Manage my Kindle on Amazon site and Deleted it, as in if I ever want to read it again I have to buy it again.

BUT
5) On Kindle for PC the book appears under Archived Items. No amount of syncing changes that. Is there any way to get rid of it, short of de-registering Kindle for PC and starting over?

As part of this I have been trying to figure out where on the PC Amazon puts the information about Archived books. The only thing I found was the XML file KindleSyncMetadataCache.xml which included an entry for the book. I even edited that file and removed that section (carefully). Even after subsequent syncs there is no mention of it in that file, but it still appears in the Archive. (I found the picture of the cover under AppData\Local\Amazon\Kindle\Cache\covers, not that it got me anywhere.)

Thanks!

This seems to be some quirk of K4PC, I've found if I unregister and then re-register the k4pc to my account, the deleted book will be removed from the archive.

What happens if you then try to download it from the Archive? Perhaps that might make K4PC realise that it's no longer available.

I tried that before, you just get the failed download message, it continues to remain in the archive. I once opened a chat with Amazon CS and they too could only get it to disappear by unregistering and re-registering. I've only deleted about three books and each time I had to unregister my k4pc. I would love to know if there was a better way to do this, but since I do not delete many books from my account, it is not a major issue for me.

Interesting - thanks. I've never deleted a book from my library, so it's never been an issue.

I've only had to do it those few times because I realized I bought different free versions of the same book, and I thought it was no need to keep both copies since they were free copies. Other than that, I too do not delete books.

Since I use K4PC to maintain all my collections, I just wished there was an easier way to manage that beast, but that is a topic for another day.

Thanks for everyone's responses.

Yes, when I try to download it the response is that I have run out of download licenses.

My normal way of operating is to send everything to my k4pc, and just selective items to my Kindle Keyboard. This means removing the registration and doing it again involves a huge number of books to be added back. I went through it once, and am trying to avoid re-downloading all of them again, one by one.

If anyone with a technical bent has figured out where k4pc hides the names of archived books it sure would be interesting to hear!

Don't remove your books, just unregister it and do not check the option to remove your content. Then re-register it, all your books and collections are exactly where they were prior to doing this.

Really? That does make the whole thing a lot more practical. I was certain that a new unique ID would be generated. Learn something every day!

Thanks again!
