To do this (the easiest), rename the directory where you saved the files, open overdrive console and click to download. Since it can't find the files, it will tell you the parts and sizes; I find that on W7, the saved file should be exact 1K larger than the size indicated in order to be a full download. Once you've checked the sizes, just click cancel to exit the download dialog (or click to download the parts you didn't get as complete files). Then, go back and rename the directory to the name expected by ODM (if you had to download new parts, copy them to the original folder before deleting the one just created and doing the rename). You can do this with any of the sync files, it seems, even last years downloads, so long as you don't delete them from overdrive and still have the license registered. I went back and redownloaded the few I had that were short (one, for example, was missing an entire chapter from one of the parts). |

I was able to download the Naxos audiobooks to a folder on my netbook, but they are listed as protected files. When I transfer them to my mp3 player (Sansa Clip Zip) using drag and drop, they show up in the audiobook folder, but they do not show up in the list of books when I use the player. Should I be able to transfer them to an mp3 player?

Looks like we have an Audible freebie, just in time to be a part of JIAM. As a tie-in to the new ABC series, Audible is offering "Whodunnit?: Murder in Mystery Manor" by Anthony Zuiker for free. The title may be found here. If it is anything like the last few Audible freebies, this will disappear in the blink of an eye so if you are interested don't delay.

Hmm...it's a 'companion' to the new 'reality' game show...does that mean it's a seven hour infomercial with no ending, unless you tune in to the show every week? It's free, so I'm getting it, but if it is, who can I sue to get my seven hours back?

AudioGo UK has some nice deals on the Falco books by Lindsey Davis, and a new BBC series that I was not aware of until today - McLevy, an Edinburgh detective. I used Paypal to pay so no need for a UK mailing address if you live elsewhere. Please note these are full cast performances, not the unabridged versions. I enjoy Anton Lesser's performances as Falco and like the short (3 hours) for easy listening. Today's prices, not sure how long they are good for:

McLevy: The Complete Series 1 (BBC Radio Crimes) £2.49 GBP Falco: Venus in Copper £2.49 GBP Falco: The Iron Hand of Mars £2.49 GBP Falco: The Silver Pigs £1.66 GBP Falco: Poseidon's Gold £2.49 GBP Falco: Shadows in Bronze £2.50 GBP |

Except for Silver Pigs, all of the above are also on sale in AudioGO US for $3.99 each. For Inspector McLevy, there are seven different series; each containing four 45 minute episodes. |

After a couple of months in absence, Tantor has added a free title. If you found yourself saying "huh?" to any of the Supreme Court decisions this week (BTW let's not get into a political debate here; it's the deals forum after all) then maybe you'd like to brush up on your Constisution. If so you can get "The Federalist Papers" in its entirity (that's 20 hours) here. Decide for yourself whether this week at all resembles what Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, John Jay, and the rest intended.

While you are at it, Tantor still has their JIAM sale going on. Every title is currently 50% off so if you need some summer-vacation listening choices now might be the time to take a look. Enjoy! skinmaan Your audiobook bloodhound |

Public Library only carries mp3, No wma

Sorry don't know where to post this. But all three of my public library accounts stopped carrying wma audiobooks. Only mp3 are available. Which means not so many books are available.

I *did* read an Overdrive blog where they said they're working on a streaming version of audiobook, which I assumed to be another option for tablet owners. I really hope they're not going to cloud versions of *everything*. EDIT TO NOTE: I mean cloud-only versions. I certainly don't mind if they roll out cloud versions as an *option* for tablet owners. But since I'm still quite happy with my little Creative Zen MP3 player, I'm hoping I can still borrow WMA and/or MP3 from the library and not *only* have the streaming option. Hope that doesn't happen at my local library. They have 14,323 WMA titles, but only half that number of titles in MP3. Although I have noticed some formerly WMA only titles are starting to show up with MP3 as a second option.

I checked mine and all wma are still available this would be READS, FLP and BKlyn. Are you using the full site on your desktop/laptop to check for WMA? I don't think WMA appears on the mobile site.
